El Cascabel offers a fantastic dining experience with great decor and pleasant staff. The Birria Tacos, Birria Quesadilla, and Hibiscus Aquas are standout dishes. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with excellent Margaritas and fresh chips and salsa. El Cascabel is the best Mexican food in Grinnell. Their menu has a mix of vegetarian, beef, chicken, pork, and seafood options. There are also several options for beverages, including horchata. The service is good and the staff is attentive. The chips are delicious, but the salsa is nothing fancy. The restaurant is in an old Train Station with plenty of sitting, beautiful dining areas, and a large bar. The portions are good sized. El Cascabel is right next to a railroad intersection, which is quite the experience when a train goes by. The restaurant is big with a lot of space and is wheelchair accessible.
