“If you are in Grinnell and want pizza, this is the place. Pagliai's has other options other than pizza. Great pizza, clean, and the staff works hard for you. We are always well taken care of. It's my favorite pizza.”
“Great place to play board games, hang out, or get some late night work done! I found out on Wednesdays they have trivia/pictionary. They staff us incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding are and always willing to chat.”
“We love this restaurant for a date night or special evening. The chef specials are always excellent & the waygu beef is over the top excellent. Service is always prompt and attentive. Leave room for dessert, because they have great creme brulee and several other fine choices. The bar will not dissapoint either. We gladly drive 45 min to get here to enjoy an evening at the Prairie Canary.”
“We have been going to the Frontier since we moved to Iowa in 2015. It is a small town cafe with a home comfort feel. When we need some really good food that reminds us of being kids, we drive over an hour to eat here. There is plenty of seating and plenty of people eating, and the staff is always friendly. I love the signs in the bathroom and it shows that they enjoy a fun atmosphere. The chili is some of the best you will ever have and if it’s cold outside, getting the chili and a cheeseburger just can’t be beat! My wife loves their Special Club and soup of the day. Homemade pies and deserts always look good but we are usually too full to get any.Parking: It’s street parking and sometimes we have had to park a block away which isn’t an issue for us but could be for older folks.”
“My favorite place for Mexican in Grinnell. Their food never disappoints no matter which dishes I try, each sauce is full of flavor and the precise amount of spice, and the wait/serving staff goes above and beyond. An overall must try when you’re in the area or call yourself a Grinnellian.Would recommend time after time.Dietary restrictions: The menu is gluten friendly along with substitutes to match any desired pallet needs.Parking: Parking spots on both the North and South side of the building with handicap access each direction, wheelchair ramps along with side street entry and exit.Kid-friendliness: Have kid size portions with regular size dishes for the older kids along with high chairs if desired for younger kids.”
“Bright and busy Mexican food restaurant near I-80 motels. Located in small strip mall by Walmart in Grinnell. Lots of parking. Initial restaurant service. can be aggressive so take your time in ordering and don't be rushed. Excellent guacamole starter, good flank steak enchilada, good chile rellenos.”
“By far my favorite bread. Lots of meat on your sandwich. I always get the box lunch so I get chips, a pickle spear and a cookie with my sandwich. Lots of food for the price. Friendly staff and quick service.”
“We are here twice. First time was a friday during lent so no meat. We started with the badger bites, which are cheese curds. They were ok but seemed light on the cheese and heavy on the breading. Then i had the fumblerooski which is an all plant based burger. First time ever having a plant based burger. It does not taste like a normal burger but with all the toppings and ketchup it tasted ok. Daughter got the fish strips. She said they were very good. The second time we went i got the pigskin which was a very good pulled pork sandwich. I also got onion rings and they were really good also. My wife got the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was also good. Two daughters got build a burgers and both really liked the burgers and they were very filling. They got tater tots which they really liked and french fries which were just ok as they were over cooked. As far as service that was disappointing. Our waitress would walk past our table and never stop to check in. We had to flag other waiter down to get drink refills. Had to ask for check. Now the place itself was pretty cool. One wall was pictures of all the current kids from that county playing sports at some college. They also had pics of some of the more famouse athletes from the area. That was really cool.”
“Great small town, locally owned cafe. I had an egg salad sandwich….you can’t get that where I’m from! It was awesome! If you want great food and a great experience…give it a ”
“Came for breakfast in-between track events. I had a western omelet with mushrooms, and my party had hickey cakes with chocolate chips and a hillbilly skillet. Service was quick and attentive, and the food was enjoyable. It's a really great throwback family style diner.”
“Employee made my sub my way, cheerful and smiles throughout the whole process, ??? great atmosphere... I highly recommend the chief. ?£Parking: Many open parking spots ?Kid-friendliness: Kids choose their preference ?Wheelchair accessibility: Wide Isle for handicap”
“It is a very fun place to be. People are friendly, the karaoke experiencia is quite interesting and you can play pool for a while. Not a bad place to hang around in a cold saturday night.”
“Good food. Good service. Fun diner on a Saturday for lunch. We stopped there on our way through Grinnell. Guys had the loose meat sandwiches & said though tasty, not as good as Maid Rites. My tenderloin was good. Friend had small order of nachos & said they were fine. The loose meat is just like the sandwich meat. You add your own salsa. Fries were hot & crispy & onion rings were good as well. Good place for a quick lunch--reasonable prices.”
“Visited on 1/5/24 between 6:50pm-7:10pm. 1 Glass of Chardanay for $13. 15-20 patrons during my visit & owned/operated by 1 person... gotta be a bit overwhelming. They do have pizza toaster ovens for flatbread pizza's that go for $13. Highest wine glass prices I saw were $19. Over 30+ different beers (half out of state) on their menu.. more than what the local craft tap house has. On 2 separate notes... in response to the previous reviewer before mine "Richard White", How would a political poster have any affect on the experience with the business itself? Would you still have added that irrelevant criticism if it had been Republican?... the end of the day its all the same. Both sides act & operate the same way. Corrupted, full of hypocrisy & contradictions while pointing blame at one another. Motivated by greed & self-interest. In Response to "Harolds" maybe some folks don't want to hear politics period. When trying to relax with a good drink, or run a business. No matter the side, time & place sort of thing... as an example, you had someone being loud & obnoxious about it and trying to push their politics on everyone around them I could see the bartender/owner subtly trying to get that person out by giving them the cold shoulder or handing them the bill without asking.”
“We always get friendly and good service from the guys at Jay's Deli, and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is a bit complicated since they share space with Saints' Rest Coffee Shop: sometimes crowded and it is confusing to know what to get where.”
