Truly amazing food. This is my third time eating here, and it was my best experience here to date. The food was incredible!!! This time I got their carnitas plate. The meat was cooked to perfection! Best food I have had in Grinnell! This was the best meal I have had for a long time. I also have tried the birria tacos and the fajita, but the carnitas were inedible! Solid sides as well. El Cascabel offers a fantastic dining experience with great decor and pleasant staff. The Birria Tacos, Birria Quesadilla, and Hibiscus Aquas are standout dishes. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with excellent Margaritas and fresh chips and salsa. El Cascabel is the best Mexican food in Grinnell. Inside the old train station, historical and cozy, the food is not complicated but delicious, with rich guac, savory shrimp and homemade salsa. The service is exceptional, fast and professional. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable, an outstanding value. The restaurant is big with a lot of space and is wheelchair accessible.
