“As a queer and trans person, lately when coming down to Ames I’ve felt a bit skittish in public. I also have celiac (gluten free) and my wife has a dairy allergy so finding food in town can be a challenge to say the least. In this context, Lockwood truly felt like an oasis of sorts. I want to sincerely thank them for their work to cultivate the space they have and to thank them for giving me hope for the future of Ames itself. I feel truly seen in a positive way for once!”

“Love coming in for breakfast, I love the classic toast, eggs, and hashbrowns. If I make it in for lunch, my go-to is the chicken strip wrap and fries. Don’t forget the delicious homemade ranch! The evening dinning is always good since they started that option not long ago. Can’t go wrong with a smash burger and fries. For a little dinnertime fun I like to add a Pufferbilly punch drink every once in awhile. Glad to have this little Cafe in Boone!”

“Great ice cream flavors, kind employees, generous portion sizes. A good place to grab a treat while visiting the High Trestle Bridge. The Amaretto Cherry ice cream was the best! I would highly recommend stopping by.”

“If you haven’t visited The Slater Station — you are missing out! A small town bar with a big, warm, down-to-earth personality! The staff is kind and seem genuinely concerned that the patrons get what they came for, a good time. The outdoor patio is skillfully designed and comfortable, the bar is stocked and ready and the smiles are infectious. The inside space is also inviting and the restrooms are squeaky clean. Big shout out to the staff for your genuine hospitality. We hope to see you again soon!”

“Having a very hard time ordering by phone or on computer wanting to order a ribeye. well over an hour wait so answered and said they wanted to put us on hold cause they were very busy. that sounded like a bad plan so decided to come to Saints which we always enjoy. so Arlee gave our order including a ribeye, she was very rude with Arlee and reminded him that you had not had steaks for over a year. the rest of the conversation with her was so out of character for our favorite in Boone being in front of a live person after the awful experience we had just had. ,Arlee went ahead and placed our cranky ex order to go from the bar and hopefully our brighter daysys are ahead.”

“OMG we had the best lunch ever. We had the chicken, steak fajitas, at El Viejo in Boone which is right downtown. They have the best Mexican food ever. I ordered the lunch fajitas, and my husband had the dinner fajitas. OMG it was so good and so filling. A huge amount of food at a resealable price. The food is excellent here, and the service is out of this world friendly. We highly recommend this place.”

“This beautiful place caters to bicycle riders during the day. After a long ride I was able to sit back and drink a beer and eat a yummy cheeseburger and tots. The place was loaded with people in stretchy shorts and bike wear. Great food and service.”

“Larger TVs to watch sports! A giant deck area to sit and have drinks outside with a misting system to keep you cool! So many drinks to choose from. Live music a few times a month. Just a great atmosphere!!!”
