“You normally don’t think of pasta or cheeseburgers at a Mexican restaurant but their Mexican cilantro sauce and cheeseburger tacos are amazing! So is everything else! We always leave with extra and they reheat really well. So lucky this place is in my neighborhood!“
“This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. It is consistent, every visit, once I found this I find it hard to go any other place. Highly recommend, will return as often as I can!! The best chile rellenos, I've ever had!!“
“Small and modest place, yet with food that's worth trying out. There's a surprising amount of attention to detail with the wait staff when it comes to taking care of you. They even had different kinds of to-go containers when I planned to just plop my guac in the same box as my entree.“
“We came here for my husband's birthday and it was great. Nice sized vegetarian menu, and were able to accommodate regular menu items to vegetarian. Portion sizes were huge and the food was delicious. We didn't even mean to tell them it was my husband's birthday but they overheard and brought him shots and sang him a song. He wants to come back every year for his birthday.“
“We had a dinner party of 7, with plenty of space made available to us by combining some tables. There was more than enough room to accommodate us even with other larger groups dining that evening. From the front door to our seats, the team at Guadalajara is the utmost friendly and welcoming of any restaurant you'll find. Our dining experience was great. We were served quickly and treated well. Our server was attentive, took great care in our orders, and checked on us throughout without a delay. We had the house margaritas, which are a Monday special...highly recommend for value and quality! Every meal option will be made lovely and will definitely be filling. The renovations and expansion over the last few years have only made the location better, and the decor and atmosphere are wonderful. I've never experienced a poor visit to Guadalajara. You are always like family when you walk in those doors. Most recommended for a dining experience in Ankeny!Vegetarian options: Some entrees are easily converted to vegetarian options, others clearly indicated as such. Food is fresh and the team is very accommodating when possible. It's not vegetarian focused, but is definitely a welcoming location.Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is very child friendly, navigable, and easy to eat as a family. There are children dining specials and plenty of options.“
“We ate lunch today Feb 3, 2024. I am so glad I chose to eat there. We ordered the fajitas de la casa. It was very yummy. We also ordered the kids quesadilla plate and extra side of beans. It was all very tasty. Our friend ordered a pork dish and said it was great! The salsa was spicy which was great. We will be back soon.“
“Had a wonderful lunch today for three. We sat at the bar and had absolutely wonderful drinks, food, and service. Darius was efficient, so friendly and funny, and made delicious margaritas! The other staff seemed wonderful, too. Tacos and burritos bowl were very yummy. It was my first visit and the other two’s second visit here and it has been across the board awesome both times! Thanks, y’all!“
“Fresh great tasting food with plenty options, you can’t go wrong. I bought two steak tacos, two chicken tacos, rice, and elote in a cup. Everything was fantastic! The employees were extremely friendly and food was done quickly. I’ll be back again “
“This place is pretty neat! Had never been to a funky gourmet style ice cream shop before and this was certainly fresh and fun... And the girls who served us were really sweet! Had a fun time just hanging out and trying something different! We'll be back!Parking: Reserved patron parking around to the right side of building when facing the front of the shop which is located in the back of another Mexican restaurant!“
“OMG ?!!! " I had to say that first ? I had a craving for some good Mexican tacos . So we decided to try amigos . As we went in , we noticed they had fresh authentic food . Which made me very excited. It took us a minute to decide because , everything looked so good ? finally we decided on a burrito and Our fajita burrito was so amazingly delicious . I'm telling y'all we can eat here every day . Thank you to the guy that took our order and the wonderful lady that served us our chips and dip as we sat and enjoyed that burrito to die for “
“Cancun Mexican Grill has become our go-to spot, and for all the right reasons. The food is consistently fantastic, and the staff goes above and beyond, especially with the kids. The personalized service, where the waiters know our names, adds a special touch. It's not just a restaurant; it's a welcoming experience. A true family favorite that we look forward to visiting time and time again.Kid-friendliness: Always friendly, cognizant, & prompt.“
“Hands down one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants around. They have been a main stay for years and years in johnston. Ive driven past it more times than I can count. Its always busy but that doesn't mean you will wait long to be seated or to get your food! Finally popped in with my dad one day and was immediately impressed with the atmosphere. They deliver house made chips and salsa to your table as soon as you are seated. I recommend asking for the queso too. Great selection of entrees and good prices. The servers are very attentive. Food comes out fast and tastes delicious! On nice days you can sit on the patio outside. This is a great place to share a large margarita with friends and catch up over some amazing eats! 10/10 would recommend! Thanks El Mariachi!“
“I have been going here for several years and I love this place! I got a position at work where I can not get there as often as I would like to now but I can not say enough good things about it. I have tried AL Pastor Tacos all around the DSM Metro and beyond and I am yet to find an AL Pastor taco as good as it is at Mi Lindo. Keep up the good work folks! The owners are very polite and the prices are very within the norm for a Taco Truck in the DSM Metro.“
“El Molcajete is my ALL TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT! We go whenever we can. Date night, family night what have you. Every time we're greeted by an amazing staff. They're always smiling and friendly. Their attention to service is impeccable. The food is TOP TIER! Flavorful and bountiful. My favorite being the Mango Shrimp Tacos. Lawrdy! They're so amazing! Great Margaritas our favorite being the Kiwi. So tasty! So if you're looking for a great Mexican place. This is THE place to go! This is my own honest opinion aboot the place. I can't rave aboot it enough. So Thank You El Molcajete for being an amazing restaurant!“
“We love our Mexican and usually have our go to stop, but we decided to venture out on a Saturday evening and try something new. Reviews highly recommended Amigos so that’s where we headed. We were greeted when we walked in and realized the restaurant was full, so we asked to sit at the bar. We were seated and given menus, chips and salsa. There were so many great looking dishes and choices, but we knew right away for drinks we wanted a Michelada with Corona, and a Victoria along with queso and guacamole and two waters. We looked over the menu while we waited for the drinks and dips. It was quite extensive but sorted into categories that helped narrow it down. The Victoria, water, guacamole and queso was brought almost immediately. The Michelada took a little longer for good reason… it was a work of art and something like I have never seen! I always order Michelada at Mexican restaurants but never had anything like this with so many fixings and such great flavor! I would come back just for this! We orders our entrees after receiving the drinks - the carnitas and the veggie quesadilla. It did not take long for the food to come out but we were enjoying the chips and dips and drinks so time wouldn’t have mattered. The carnitas were served with rice, beans, tortillas, and pico de gallo. The portion was very generous and the pork was tender, juicy and seasoned well. The quesadilla took up the plate it was so big and loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomato, cheese and had tomato, lettuce & sour cream on the side. Both meals were the best we have had at a Mexican establishment and portions were very very generous… definitely left overs going home for smother meal. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the food and drink, and menu options outstanding. I think we have a new favorite weekly stop!“
“Food fantastic as always, order taker kind. However, the 3 employees cleaning the lobby at 910pm, should not assume they can always speak freely in Spanish, more and more non-hispanics know and understand the language, speaking so disrespectfully and unkind can make the prettiest girl ugly.I do need to note this is the first time I have ever experienced such a situation, every other time was wonderful as always. I sure hope I this never happens again, as a business owner I would be embarrassed and disappointed knowing my employees displayed that kind of behavior with customers in the lobby.Thank you for supper, it was fantastic! “
“This is my new favorite hidden gem. The food was absolutely amazing and came out quickly. Our server Santiago was attentive, extremely friendly, and just really great overall. The margaritas are unique and delicious. If I wasn't so full I would come back again tonight!“
“If you haven’t tried Bandit Burrito, let me just tell you right now. You are missing out! This is a must try location if you are in the DSM area. It can’t get any better than Bandit Burrito. I have tried them all, and personally not a big fan of Qdoba and Pancheros is ok. But this place here is no comparison, absolutely amazing. 100 percent RECOMMEND!“
“The food is amazing, the people are friendly, the atmosphere is fun and warm even if it does come off as a little bit contrivedParking: Free parking around the building, plenty of parking spaces. It was just a little tight for my full size dually but ultimately not a problem!“
“This place is delicious. Just tried it based on the reviews…there aren’t many, but they’re all correct. Super nice people, great quality food…I had a couple beef tacos…better than any taco I’ve had at Malo or any “upscale” Mexican place in town. You’re silly if you don’t eat here on the regular, which I will be doing.“
“It's an OK restaurant. I didn't eat there but when I picked up my order it just seemed idk meh. But at the same time it's in Adel and not really populated where they are at. So probably not a lot of money to fix up the place.“
“Had 3 each of the pastor and asada tacos on a beautiful Sunday morning. Excellent tacos with 2 really good sauces. I’ve lived in Texas and Colorado and these are right up with the best authentic tacos I’ve ever had. The little red truck in the parking lot puts out a really nice product at a fair price. Highly recommend if you ever get on the north side of Des Moines just off of I 80!“
“THIS IS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE AREA. THE SALSA AND CHIPS WERE FRESH AND OFF THE HOOK! DONT KNOW HOW ELSE TO EXPLAIN IT BUT IT REMINDED ME OF MY MOMS COOKIN FOR US GROWING UP AS TEJANOS IN WEST TEXAS! IF YOU ARE A LATINO YOU WILL AGREE.“
“AMAZING!!!! Super tender and moist cuts of meat, well-seasoned everything, and amazing simple guacamole, cheese dip, and salsa. Service was quick and concise, answering any questions and the food came out fast. You definitely should check out if you visit The District.“
“Highly recommend. I was served by a friendly and charming gentleman who told me all about what I was ordering.I honestly did not like my pork tamale but the strawberry tamale (that was recommended to me) was absolutely fantastic. Please check this place out and show some love.“
“Absolutely love this place! It's our favorite eatery in all of Ankeny. On Tuesdays and during happy hour(m-f 11-5) you can get 5 or $6 giant margaritas. The food is excellent and the servers are great. They all know my girl is trying to learn Spanish and will exclusively speak to her in Spanish. We bring all our friends and family here. If you're looking for some good Mexican food this place is a no-brainer.“
“Arrived at 8 pm on a Thursday evening. Despite the slow night, getting the attention of the staff for service proved challenging. The food was decent, with a highlight being the Quesobrilla Tacos, as recommended in reviews – they were enjoyable and satisfying. Portion sizes were satisfactory.“
“Okay, I have to share an experience. I just left a negative review for Taco Bell. About 2 miles from the store. On august 22 I went to taco bell down the street I waited 11 minutes, did not get waited on while everybody at the drive thru was getting waited on (about 8 to 10 people). The manager said after eleven minutes it'd be quicker if you used the kiosk. I am not an employee of taco bell. I generally don't use self check out either. At any rate I drove down the street. Four minutes away walked up to the counter at taco john's. After three minutes I had my food and was out the door. I just want to say a lot of people only leave feedback when they're upset. I am just the opposite. But occasionally I do leave negative feedback.Taco John's your people did a great job. Keep up the good work, thank you.“
“The food was great. I tried a margarita and it was a little heavy on the mix. I prefer table chips warm, but these were still crispy. It would have been nice to be told that we needed to go up to the register to pay. You don't see the register when you come in because it's tucked on the side of the door out of the way. I really enjoyed the tamales.“
“We went the last two Fridays, the first time I had the Tamales Chilango an my husband had one of the combination plates, food was delicious, some best Tamales I've had an my husband said everything on his plate was delicious as well. The service was great. The second time my husband had the Fried Mojarra with shrimp, our friend had the Chile Colorado an I had the Lunch Special #20 an 2 Asada Tacos. The tacos were delicious the meat was juicy an tender with good flavor. The burrito in my special was supposed to be chicken, I got it an it was ground beef, It was ok, kinda salty. I told the waitress it was supposed to be be chicken, she said no but then went an looked at the menu an came back an apologized. She then went into the kitchen came back out an asked if I wanted to send it back an get the right one but by then the guys were already well into their meals an I didn't want to wait an then have them sitting there waiting on me. Overall it's a pretty great place an I'll definitely be back, just hope getting the wrong order was a one time deal.“
“The tables are turned over quickly, so waiting want a problem even on Friday night. The food was quick and some of the best serve had in the area. Our waitress suggested a pineapple margarita and WOW. She was right. ? Also, get anything with chipotle sauce....“
“We had a party of 10 on a Sunday evening. Every aspect was great! Everybody had something different, and they all raved about their dish. Large servings. Fabulous $5.00 margaritas! One person who doesn't care for Mexican food had the chicken wings and raved that he had been searching for wings like these since eating some in a famous restaurant 20 years ago. Service was fast and exceptionally friendly. Great prices, too!Dietary restrictions: They have a selection for diabetics upon requestWheelchair accessibility: No steps to maneuver“
