Personal favorites are the honey roll and any spicy roll. The Singapore noodles and General Tso chicken are also excellent. This place is worth your time and money every time.“

“I tried to go to a different cafe and it was packed. I had to go to the library so I went down to the area and parked. Looked for the nearest cafe and stumbled upon this gem. Cozy atmosphere, Amazing food, Tentative & Kind service. It was just me at a 4 person table & it was busy. They didn't rush me or treat me as though it was inconvenient. I even offered the other half of my table to anyone who needed it. The owner said "The French Way". I will be back, there are so many different crepes to try and their coffee was delicious. “

Lunch and dinner menus are totally different which adds options as long as you go at different times. Weekly specials to keep some nice variety if you frequent the joint. “I come to Iowa City at least twice a year to attend an Alumni Advisory Committee meeting for the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Iowa College of Engineering. The meeting are on Friday and the Department takes us out to dinner the night before. Apparently, this is one of their favorite places. The name "Iowa Chop House" suggests a fancy steak restaurant, which it is not. It's more like a comfortable and very slightly fancy Midwest restaurant with a "something for everyone" menu, a good selection of local beers, and nice welcome home vibe. Our party was seated in a private room and a good time was had by all including faculty members and alumni of all ages and working backgrounds. I'm pleased and proud to be part of this group of smart and engaging people. The only bittersweet part was that one of the most popular professors was leaving for another University, primarily for family reasons. That of course, gave us all a chance to wish him well and ask him all sorts of questions, some of which were none of our business. Our wait people were great and attentive when they needed to be. I went light with a very tasty (and healthy looking) chicken salad and a single glass of wine. The other choices around the table looked very tempting, of which I'll need to revisit when I return. That includes other parts of the restaurant outside our happy little bubble.“

“Me and my Gf decided to take a day trip out to this Distillery. Was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to find. The staff was outstanding. They answered any questions we had. “Rusciano’s has the BEST Italian style pizza! Ever since I spent time in Italy I’ve looked for somewhere to find a good Neapolitan style pizza and I was so happy when I found Rusciano’s!! “Food was excellent! Our first server was also great. But her shift ended and the young man who took her place brought our food well. When it came to pay the bill though, he wanted to know if I wanted my change back (well, yes, I wasn't going to tip you 33%) and I was shorted my change by a few dollars (yes, I paid cash so it wasn't the credit card fee). We had to leave and I did not see him, and I did not want to make a scene. Like I said, food was great and so was the atmosphere and most the staff.“

Also recommend going in to eat instead of placing a to go order as cellular service is bad and makes placing a to go a bit of a hassle. All in all Kate did her best to correct everything, apologized profusely, and voided our bill.“

“Not only is this the best meal in town, it’s the best in the state, if not some of the best in the country. This is better than any Michelin star restaurant we’ve been to. There is a reason people travel from all over the country to eat here. It’s that good. The fish is incredible every single time. he’s obviously absolutely perfected the crème brûlée over his career. It’s our favorite place to go when we want to ‘escape’ Iowa city for a bit and have an experience. This is someone at the top of their craft so you can’t miss it. The environment is beautiful but don’t let the ‘$$$$ French cuisine’ rating fool you - this is not a stuffy environment. What might be most remarkable about Chef David is that he’s this incredible talent but he could not be more humble. He does not walk around like a hot shot Chef-he’s right there having the dining experience with you while also giving you the most private dining experience you might ever have. Expect him to talk to you and laugh with you. Everyone feels welcome and connected. It’s just a very unique experience. Lots of people dress up. Lots of people dress casual. Have fun with it and just enjoy your night there.Keep in mind there are no vegetarian options but I wouldn’t be surprised if he would make an accommodation if you request it in advance.“

“I walked around this entire area and this spot really stood out from the rest. I'm not from around here so just going to a normal restaurant chain doesn't really appeal to me when visiting somewhere new. When half of the people around Hoja aren't speaking English, and the menu is in two different languages...you know you stumbled upon a gem. The beef was so tender and had excellent seasonings. Little bit of spice with the jalapenos and the nice accent with the kimchi. Everything about this dish was perfect and I would easily go there again.“

“We rented a pontoon boat for the day, and they were really great in orienting to the boat and the lake. They let us load the boat before putting the boat in the water. We called when we were about 15 minutes away, and they were there to get the boat. They let us dock and get our stuff out before they loaded the boat to return it to the lodge. They told us to just leave the trash, and they would clean it up. It made for an easy trip with minimal effort. Gas was included.“

“My son and his friends have loved Graze's food while attending Iowa, and when it came time to to cater a grad party for his friends, Graze was the place! The manager James was a pleasure to work with-- flexible, gave great recommendations, and stayed within our budget. They far surpassed our expectations. Everyone raved! The food was yummy and really held up during the evening, as people came and went. The grads were in heaven and it was the perfect "last hurrah" at Iowa. “We recently enjoyed dinner with friends at Vesta. Our wives chose to have the Mahi mahi which was fantastic. My friend had the pork tenderloin sandwich and was quite impressed. I elected to have a pizza from their brick oven. We were served by Jake, not from State Farm, and he was very knowledgeable of all of the dishes he handled our questions with ease. I enjoyed the Meat-za pizza, it was enough food for two people and I ended up takes half the pizza home. The crust was a thin light crispy crust much like naan. The pizza was sauced lightly with fresh tomatoes, onions and other herbs and spices. The meats were fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend the pizza. We are going to visit again in the near future to try more of their dishes, I want the beef tenderloin. Our only negative experience was the crème brûlée. My wife and I often chose to eat at restaurants that have cb, we are kind of cb snobs. I took one bite of my cb and couldn’t eat any more of it. It was bland at best with very little vanilla flavor and tasted like they forgot the sugar in the recipe. The girls took a bite of theirs and they too turned theirs back. Jake came by, we told him what we thought, he went directly to the kitchen to try it himself. He came back and verified our complaint saying that he thought the chef forgot the sugar when making it. Jake to the ramekins away and removed them from our bill.All in all a great experience less the crème brûlée mishap. We will definitely be back to try a new dish as well as the CB again.“

“Stopped at the Perkins which was located next to the hotel in which we were spending the night. We just wanted 2 desserts to take back to our room, and when we walked in we realized they were VERY busy that eve. The lady greeting us at the front counter made us feel just as important as those sitting for an entire meal. Our desserts (Banana Cream Pie and Chocolate Overload Cake) were fresh and quite tasty after a long day on the road. GREAT JOB PERKINS !!!“

“Very unique, creative and very delicious food!When we were there, we tried the west coast wrap and it was full of greens and grilled chicken, goat cheese and pistachios.Fresh food, made to order.One goes up to the register to order and then you wait while they fix your food and then you take it and go sit down. They are multi-level, it's narrow and not excessively deep, but there is quite of bit of seating for two people or four people and even if you're just by yourself. There are larger tables up stairs, (they have two floors) The restrooms are on the second floor, as well. Stairs are used to access the second level.They also have very tasty drinks.We had the blueberry lemonade.Vegetarian options: I do believe that you could get any wrap adjusted to your dietary needs. One could turn a wrap vegetarian. One could add cheese or leave off cheese. I think that they would accommodate that.Kid-friendliness: I would say it was kid friendly. There is a big front window and it seems like a very fun place that children would like to be.Parking: Street parking at metered spots, or one could park in the car park(ramps) and walk.“
