“As an Uber Eats driver I can recall plenty of times that i have been met with unhappy and unhelpful employees, understandably, but Kaylee was quite the opposite. I came in today super stressed due to money issues and i was immediately met with a positive and cheerful smile which boosted my spirits in spite of the dreadful day ive had. She even gave me a water as well as an accurate time estimate of how long the food was going to take to make. To be honest, i wouldve never considered coming here if not for her attitude and spirit but now I am!

“Terrible experience, very disappointed with our visit today. We talked about going there all weekend because we enjoy the 86. Drove over an hour to get there by four today because they were closing early. The girl at the front was very sweet. We were very excited to be there and told her it was our first time there. She said we could sit down and order or go to the bar. We sat down and several servers looked at us, but no one waited on us. We went to the bar and said we had never been there before. A guy said there is a menu on the counter but I'll be over there cleaning, let me know what you want and walked away. We had no idea what we were doing since it was our first time there. I wanted to try wines and my husband whiskey, but not if no one wanted to wait on us. So, we looked at each other and decided to leave. Once in the parking lot I realized it was a long way home and I should use the restroom first. So, I went back in, and I told the girl behind the counter we were leaving because no one waited on us, but I needed to use the restroom first. When I came out of the restroom she said to enjoy the rest of our day. Would have had a better day if we could have tried something... Went from very excited to be there to can't wait to leave...“

“Place was busy, but never felt crowded. John, our server, was terrific. Answered questions and opened my drink when I got confused. (New soda drink...) Food was wonderful and slightly different from the way my usual favorites are prepared. We will be back again soon.“

“I am a celiac and was pleasantly surprised that they have a whole gluten-free menu with lots of options! One of the servers said that she is a celiac, too. That was cool.
The only thing that made me nervous was the wooden cutting boards they served my gluten free food on. Not sure how they clean them, or if they keep them separate from gluten serving boards, but I know we should mistrust all wooden utensils due to their absorbency. These had obvious cut marks on them and everything.
Happily though, I didn't feel and signs of being glutened. With major gluten ingestions I definitely feel symptoms, and I had none to report here. Hopefully that bodes well.

Dietary restrictions: Celiacs may want to be wary but I think that, pending confirmation about their serving boards, this should be safe. I did not experience symptoms of having gotten glutened, at least. The food was delicious.“

“Ate here for the first time before attending an Iowa basketball game nearby. There were good choices on the menu. I had the spicey Italian meatball grinder with fries. It was good and very filling. Prices seemed reasonable. The place was noisy so it was hard to socialize with my friends. Otherwise, a good place to eat and would go there again if in town.“

“Had an amazing experience at China Star! I ordered the twice-cooked pork and it was absolutely delicious — full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and just the right level of spice. The pork was tender, and the vegetables were fresh and cooked just right.

You can really taste the authenticity of the dish. It reminded me of real Chinese home-style cooking, which is hard to find. The portion was generous and the service was friendly.

“We come here regularly when we're in town to see a show at Hancher. Never been disappointed. We were there on May 2 for an early dinner. Best server ever!
