Restaurantji's guide to Idaho Falls' top Mexican dining experiences.
“My husband and I stopped on the way through driving home to Montana. We had googled places to eat and this cool little place came up! Can I just tell you,,,,, YUMMMMMM! best freaking Birria tacos ever!!! We will make sure to hit this place again!!!!“
“Family owned, tasty food, friendly staff, affordable prices. I truly don't know what else you need for a great restaurant. They have amazing tortillas for purchase as well. I've been here multiple times now and it never lets me down.“
“If you want authentic Mexican food from an establishment that has been around for nearly 30-years, you can't go wrong with Morenita's. Their street tacos are always a solid choice and they have the full complement of meat options: carne asada, barbacoa, cabeza, lengua, pollo asado, adobado, carnitas, lomo, and buche. Plenty of platter options and a daily special that rotates weekly.“
“Everything is very good, the truth is, I really like the food, the only thing is the waiting time to pay is too much. I would recommend that you put two more people charging. The truth is, it would be better both for you and for you as a customer, but thank you very much for having that taste of the real Mexican food ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️“
“We went here had a great experience. You order and pay when you first arrive. The employees are very helpful with suggestions. I ordered the house burrito with the marinated pork, Adobada. My wife ordered the chicken pesto panini sandwich with fries. They have a lot of drink options. The food was absolutely delicious. My adobada burrito came smothered with poblano cheese sauce and a tasty grill chili pepper on top. The cheese sauce is so good you’ll find yourself making sure each bite has some on it. The adobado was very flavorful and delicious. I highly recommend it for burritos or tacos. The chicken pesto panini was cooked perfectly and there was so much melted cheese. Excellent crunch. The flavors blended together so well this sandwich became an instant favorite. The fries are homemade and pair very well with their fry sauce. The hours are typically from 11-4PM so be sure to plan accordingly. The employees are very helpful and will ensure you have a great experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Update, we already went back and I got a burger and onion rings, very good. The onion rings are large. I recommend Park Avenue Grill.“
“We have eaten here many times and every single time the food is phenomenal! The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is good. We are sad they are only open Thursday through Sunday because we would go there every day if we could. I love their rolled tacos and my husband loves their papasito burrito. I also love their molita and my daughter loves the bean and cheese burrito. The people that work there are so nice and helpful. Especially the front lady. Sometimes it's hard to find seating and parking because it's so popular but then we just do take out and eat it in our car. Lol this place is definitely our favorite Mexican food place. It is so worth the try!!! Oh and the strawberry horchata is amazing! They also have coconut and regular horchata. They have all the Mexican sodas and sides. Their rice is authentic and delicious. I love the balance between their main course and the lettuce they give you, the cheese on top, the spicy salsas, and the sour cream and pico. They have a lovely balance between fresh and fried that makes the meal wonderful. The textures are right on and the flavor of the meats is perfect.“
“Seriously the best taco truck around! Super friendly staff, knowledgeable and answer any questions you may have From the way they cook their food and they way they treat customers they have my vote. Also the food is just top notch. Such flavor and spice, the owners know exactly what to suggest. If you don't know what you want anything they suggest is practically golden. Give it a try. Worse thing you'll find out is you need a second stomach for more tasty food! ?Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space in the parking lot for lines of customers and their families.Wheelchair accessibility: You can park and roll on up. Staff is super friendly and helpful.“
“I went to Pachangas with my wife and mother for my birthday dinner. The dining area was large enough to accommodate a large number of guests. The lighting was a little dark, but in a good way. I ordered the lobster enchiladas, and they were top-notch. Since it was my birthday, I also ordered a margarita. The staff came over and put a sombrero on my head and sang to me. They made it a birthday to remember. The staff speaks Spanish.Vegetarian options: Good rice and beans“
“This was a place that a friend said we should try. So we decided to do just that. We were ready for breakfast and both us ordered. The place is really clean and bathrooms on the men’s side was ok my wife said the women’s was clean. They have a few salsas to choose from and that’s a plus. I had a sausage, bacon egg with light on the potato. My wife had the chorizo breakfast burrito and she said it was very tasty so you know I just had to try it. Both of them was very rummy and the salsa only helped enhance the flavors. I would definitely go here again for some of the other items on the menu. They have daily specials and they seemed reasonably priced.Didn’t ask about a veteran discount but I’ll update that later.Parking: Lots of parking. The others building were not open when we were there.Kid-friendliness: Lots of seating and they had high chairs.“
“The tacos at this place are amazing. The tortilla is just the right size for your tacos and portioned with meat. The meat choices are great. Their meat is seasoned just right and make delicious taco meat. which ever meat you choose you wont regret it. Tacos tacos tacos. Oh and dont forget to ask for the red salsa. I'll see you guys there.?????“
“This place is delicious and amazing! I called on Thursday midday and asked if they could have 8 dozen tamales for a work lunch on Friday, AND THEY DID! They did not even hesitate.Their tamales are full of meat and have never been dry. They also take Apple Pay.“
“The food was delicious. The gentleman that took our order was very thorough and informative, we tend to be difficult with our ordering because of dietary restrictions, makes me feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck taking our order. That being said, he was very patient and read our order back to us to make sure it was right. It took them awhile to make our food, probably about 20 to 30 minutes, but it was worth it. I would absolutely recommend this place, though it took our food awhile it was very good, you just got to make sure you have the time to wait for it. Can't say that I know authentic, but if it is,they left a very good impression.Dietary restrictions: They are very open to creating a salad for you if you would like, but I am unaware if there are low carb and/or gluten free options.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to get in the restaurant handicap parking right by the entrance. Little tight in the dining area but manageable.“
“I've been a regular at this wonderful locally-owned family Mexican restaurant for a while now, drawn in by the incredible flavors and unbeatable prices. Whether I'm indulging in the savory Carne Asada fry burrito or starting my day right with the hearty breakfast burrito, every bite feels like a taste of home. The homemade food is consistently delicious, made with care and authentic flair. But what truly sets this place apart is the warm, welcoming atmosphere, especially the kind-hearted mom who always takes care of me with a smile. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that keeps me coming back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for genuine Mexican cuisine and a friendly face!“
“Tacos El Rojo is my favorite place to get a street taco in all of Idaho Falls. To you that is a lexical distinction but I really really love tacos. What Tacos El Rojo lacks in atmosphere, they more than make up for with 'dem street tacos! If you hadn't already figured it out, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Parking: The location is Anderson St. and parking can be difficult to access, especially because if you blink you'll miss this place. There is a wonderful little tented patio that is a nice option if you feel like eating there or just dining sort of alfresco.Kid-friendliness: There is nothing that I'm aware of, that excludes Tacos El Rojo from being kiddo friendly. It's right next to Speedi Mart if your kids won't eat it or your kids have different diets.Wheelchair accessibility: It's a taco truck, so if you can get to the truck, I would imagine that makes it accessible.“
“I'm a big fan of Garcia's Cocina. The tacos are really great. The woman that helped me order spoke perfect English, and was very helpful. There's lots of seating and the restaurant is clean. This is real Mexican food, and it's delicious. Don't be scared; the front is a market with traditional mexican ingredients. Walk to the back like you own the place and you'll find the restaurant. Go check it out!“
“Overall, a pleasant experience. The restaurant was clean and quiet, and the food was good and priced very reasonably. I can recommend the Burrito Escondido without any reservations, and my five dining companions seemed to enjoy their meals also.“
“Great service! And I enjoyed the Chile rellenos! Not a sauce I am used to with Chile rellenos however very much enjoyed it! Kiddos enjoyed their meals as well. Am sad I don't have pictures to share with you. I was too hungry and distracted.Kid-friendliness: My kiddos enjoyed their meals.“
“Very good and very authentic Mexican food. The senora is very friendly and on top of the hot fresh tortillas. It is a very kool all you need Mexican buffet. We stopped in for the lunch Buffet and recommend all the dishes. The pasola was amazing.“
“Jalisco’s will always be our go-to restaurant for Mexican food. The pollo fundido is excellent as well as the street tacos plate. However the reason for this review is the outstanding service we recently received with Louis as our server. We have never had a more attentive and efficient, not to mention friendly server! If you get a chance to go to the Westside location ask for Louis, you won’t be disappointed!!“
“Shrimp burrito is super good. My Dogs are spoiled they highly recommend the steak breakfast burrito. ? consistent with food and service. We found the competition lacks in both areas. The Dogs appreciate the hours they are open. Also a notch up in comparison .“
“At 2 p.m. the place was quiet and a little slower which is what we were hoping for. The waiters/servers were great at their jobs and very friendly. I have spent more on fast food and did not get half what I got here. Portions were very sufficient and well made. I'll be going back more often.“
“It was my first time visiting Garcia’s and after eating definitely will be stoping by on a regular basis. The prices are very reasonable and full of flavor. The secret menu item, the oysters in a half were fantastic! The perfect mix of spicy, salty, and savory with a nice crunch from the onions. The service was super fast and everyone was extremely friendly.“
“They specialize in Mexican seafood dishes. Super good food, very flavorful and filling. I got a seafood street taco and a ceviche tostada. Both were very good and a surprisingly larger portion than I was expecting. Lots of seafood on each. It’s in an sold drive in restaurant and isn’t as nice, but it definitely makes up for it with good food. It was busy when I went, which I can see why. Spendier than other Mexican restaurants, but they serve speciality food that is simple and delicious. The dishes I got were on the cheaper side, but they do have larger seafood dishes that run up in price. I will definitely need to go back and try some of the other things they serve.“
“It's no secret this town struggles when it comes to good Mexican food. From Texas and have tried 14 texmex/Mexican food places in town. This is the best one we have found hands down! Simple, flavorful and authentic. Go somewhere else if youre looking for smothered burrito because you wouldn't know good food if it hit you in the face. This place is amazing tho!“
“Not the best Mexican I've been to but the staff is super friendly. We usually come to either this location or the one on 17th whenever we want Mexican food. I love fish tacos but you're better off eating them at the restaurant... when ordering to go, the tortillas are too wet and break apart.“
“I always come to Plum Loco! The atmosphere is nice and quiet. The take out is speedy and very courteous. And you do get Full orders on take out. Some places you get smaller portions. Not at Plum Loco! You get what you pay for, and as always DELICIOUS ???“
“The drive through staff was friendly. Food is pretty good. The crisp meat burrito seemed skinnier than normal, but the Bavarian cream empanada was very awesome! The lobby has a closed sign, and there were a half dozen signs telling us not to ask about the lobby... Lol.The drive through is falling apart too...“
“This is my favorite place to eat when I visit Idaho Falls. I swear I’ve ate here 5 days in a row sometimes eating two meals at a time. The prices are great for what you get. I love the sauces, the food tastes delicious and there is so much to choose from.“
