“best place in the world to drink“

“No longer called Horns and Halos but who cares what the name is this place was a BLAST!!! Went on a Sunday so the pics show it as. I cant say enough about how great the vibe is here. Just a down right Biker Boaters Bar and patio if you’re in the area stop ( but have cash cause they like cash) its a full service bar so dont expect to eat a burger and fries. “This is a standard biker destination. Great place to pull over and relax with a cold drink. Very friendly staff, great view of the river and all the passing river traffic from the outdoor deck. I come here wherever I'm out that way.“

“Been at Big Basin for about 9 years now, love it there. It's the closest to home and the lowest price of the three marina's on this section of the river. I just need a launch ramp and a dock, but have really enjoyed Big Basin. Parking lot gets a tad crowded on the weekends (of course).“

Went on a Tuesday night around 9-10:30 - it was quiet which was nice, but livened up towards the end. The drinks could be a bit better which is why I gave 4 stars and not 5 - but I'll absolutely be back :)“

“Low key bar, not a big place but cozy. They have slot machines but no pool tables ? Bartender was very attentive to our needs and came over to chat while I was playing my favorite slot machine, she also enjoyed playing the same game. I know this is random but the Women's bathroom door was the cutest ever. Outside looks like a small cramped but nope. It was surprisingly big and clean“

“I stopped in and had a few drinks. The bartender was friendly, not a vast selection of hard alcohol, but they had the regular stuff. I asked for food, but no food was available. 2 pool tables, one dart machine, slot machines with a touch game, and iTunes. It was a small place with no table setting, only a bar, but it looked clean and cozy. The bartender seemed very relaxed.“

“Met some friends for the Cubs opening day game on one of several television screens. I ordered a half pound burger from Thayer Brothers which is next door. It was prepared perfectly paired with fries and some tasty chicken noodle soup. I was in the mood for a beer on tap and was told they have not had "on tap" for over two years due to the pandemic. I hope they get that situation remedied when I go back.“

“Great establishment! Owners and staff go out of the way to make sure very well taken care of. We held a surprise bday party of 40 or so friends and family at The Wine Cafe and it was a great time. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable on wines and drinks offered . I would definitely recommend hosting an event there and plan on doing again as well. “I liked it, nice clean facility. Nice big bar area, the grill was clean and the lady cook was very nice, i asked for my amburger in a special way and she accommodated me. My oakbrook OTB is my favorite, been going there for years, but nice to try someplace different. Hawthorne club is a great get away to relax and have fun.“

“The new owners are great- very nice, ensured customers were all taken care of and happy to get to know and talk to everyone. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, but also fun and upbeat! Staff is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Great food and drink specials throughout the week. Definitely would reccomend checking this place out!“

“Industry has great music“

“The Wait staff and bartenders are friendly. Just don't go for the fish fry if you are hungry and don't have a bunch of time to wait. After 1.5 hours and several promises, I finally got the truth, I'm not getting food. After a couple more struggles they repayed me. I've had the fish in the past and it is very good. Just way to disorganized and unprepared for the crowds they get. They need a better system in place. I'll give it another shot but will go right when they open for hopefully better results.“
