Daebak Chinatown Reviews
It was my 1st time eating Korean BBQ. The food was delicious and it's fun to have the BBQ cooked at your table. I loved all the side dishes and all 3 types of meat we had were very tasty and tender. I didn't find the staff to be very friendly, that would have made the atmosphere so much better. I felt the price was unexpectedly high but it was definitely something I would do again.
Nice Korean barbecue now located in Chicago’s Chinatown.
We got the beef platter, pan fried dumplings and seafood fritter. Everything was prepared to perfection, table cook was a real pro, lovely atmosphere. This place does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I love that they text you when your table is ready so you can go shopping! $12 parking at the surface lot down the street. All in all, not cheap but not outrageous either.
Based on the reviews, Daebak Chinatown offers a standard KBBQ experience with good quality meat and banchan for the price. It is an all you can eat spot with a simple menu that is not overwhelming. The portions are a really good size. Specific meals mentioned include the Soy Marinated Steak, Veggie Fried Dumplings, kimchi fried rice, tteokbokki, ginger pork belly, vegetable dumpling, fish cake, beef bulgogi, chicken with ginger, egg Casserole, veggie mandoo, and japchae. The service is described as extremely nice, helpful, and attentive, though some reviews note the service was not that good and the food not that good. The restaurant has a mandatory 18% gratuity included in the bill. There is a long line sometimes, with a wait time of about 20-25 minutes, and diners can only stay for about 90 minutes. The place is quiet and small for a nice calm meal, and it is clean. It is a good spot to bring friends or a date, and the atmosphere includes kpop music videos playing on the tv.
