“I have been coming to Ed Debevic's since I was a child. My uncle would take me every time I went to visit him in the city. Working for Ed's was a dream of mine that never came true. and that's okay because i got to go as a fan 😉. My last visit with my uncle was on my 21st birthday, 14 years ago. He has since passed away. I finally was able to take my kids and husband for the first time this last weekend. We had a blast! Thanks, Ed, for making traditions and memories for a lifetime! “I loved it. Have been passing by this place since over a decade ago and never had the time. By coincidence I checked it out a few days ago and I ordered a double cheeseburger with onion rings and it was delicious! I also had a chilli which I recommend if you’re into dips! Very good service. “Don't like the intersection of Roosevelt and Canal because that corner has a lot of nasty people standing and hanging around. However, the food at this location is good, the prices are ouch ouch and ouch. The staff members are nice as well. This restaurant needs to relocate to a clean and decent corner.“

“We went to Alexander’s for breakfast on my brother’s birthday. The staff was exceedingly nice and sang happy birthday to him.

On that day, there was something wrong with the waffle maker so they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food. The staff were very apologetic and comped our food. Very impressive service!

The food was delicious and we will definitely be coming back for breakfast another time.“

“Food was excellent, nice atmosphere. My husband had an omelette and it was amazing, i had the biscuit Benedict and it was also delicious. However, My 9yo ordered the pancakes from the kids menu and in the menu there was no mention of blueberries in the pancakes (which she really doesn't like), but they were blueberry pancakes - so for her was a bit frustrating, but she picked them out. Service could be a bit friendlier, but was fast and efficient.

Kid-friendliness: The kids menu is yummy and varied and portions are good. But there should be more clarity, for example the silver dollar pancakes are blueberry pancakes.“

“I had come from a con going one nearby it was a Saturday but it was not busy at all we got a our food very quickly it was so good. I ate it very fast. the portion sizes were very nice and the staff was very nice. They could've been a bit more attentive to us but overall very nice.“

The Greek omelette with sliced tomato and feta was 10/10.
Country fried steak was very flavorful yet light/not greasy. I loved the potatoes. Orange juice was fresh. My daughter had mickey mouse pancakes with whip cream and perfectly done bacon. The server was very kind and homey! She made sure we were good without overbearing. :) thank you! Will be in again.“

“Food: I got a Gyro for the first time and it was good but was a lot of the same flavor, not much variance since the meat is all ground up. Probably just not for me personally. Pizza looked really good!
Service: the cashier we had was awesome and helped with recommendations for someone who has never been to Chicago or had Chicago food.
Atmosphere: loved the diner feel to the place!

Parking: Pretty small parking lot out front, fits maybe 10 cars.“

“Food and shakes were good.Mixed drinks were horrible, was a big disappointment as still early in the night.Had them remade once and were worse tasting then. would go for food just no mixed drinks.“

“For roughly four decades this 24-hour restaurant hss delivered high quality fare, nicely presented and reasonably priced. What makes it special, besides the round the clock delivery of delicious food is a menu with excellent Mexican-American fare. Some of my experiences with Chicago's many excellent Mexican restaurants leads me to believe that not all the menu items are perfectly "authentic" but, why give a darn when it's so good? The kitchen is conscientious, the service is friendly, and the parking is often difficult during traditional meal times despite the fact that this is a six corner intersection. I have a monkey for their chilaquiles that I can't shake. That being said, it's worth it if one must feed a meter. If you live within a few miles and don't want to give up your street parking space overnight, you might check the CTA bus schedules since there are three bus routes going this way and that on the big converging arterial streets.
The ambience is characteristic of a no-nonsense diner. Try it, you'll probably like it. And if you don't, there are probably a few dozen places within a few miles, except not at 2:00 in the morning. Arriba! Arriba! Andale! Andale!“
