International Sandwich Shop knew from the beginning the way to make the best sandwiches in Chicago is with their own bread. Fresh ingredients on fresh baked bread and you have a great sandwich. Their desserts are also amazing. I recommend International Sandwich Shop as a place to people watch (they're on a busy corner) and have a delicious sandwich.
They have great sandwiches, their service however needs improvement. Two of us ordered sandwiches with extra mayo but only one of us were charged an extra dollar, when we ordered the same sandwich. When questioned about the price difference cashier rudely stated it was for the extra mayo and asked for a dollar for the other sandwich saying she was was not told about the extra mayo for that one.
International Sandwich Shop is a true hidden gem! I ordered the BLTM sandwich, and it was outstanding. The bread was delightfully soft, fresh, and the perfect complement to the crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and creamy mayo. Every bite tasted fresh, and you can tell they take pride in using quality ingredients and making everything with care.
