Everything was homemade from scratch and absolutely delicious. The inside is so beautifully decorated. The owner Megan is so sweet. She really does put her all into the food. There is such a beautiful backstory as to how her business came about. We tried the fusions and our favs were Da beef (this is an Italian beef inspired tamale), Tropicante Bustamante (this is a Jerk sauced inspired tamale) we also loved the classics Green Guadalupe and the Angel Amy. The fusion of flavors works so well together, and the newest Chicago comfort food sensation is the Italian beef tamale, a perfect fusion of Chicago food scene favorites. The Green Guadalupe has a balanced masa-to-meat ratio, and the oxtail tamale is a 10 out of 10. The oxtail and jerk tamales are like a little piece of heaven. The peaches & cream dessert tamale is warm, sweet, and comforting. The Italian ice is another highlight. The shop is beautiful with a fun selfie booth, flowers, and culture everywhere. The decor, branding, and menu names are thoughtful, colorful, and fun. It is a woman-owned business run by a mom and son, and you can feel the love and intention behind it. The tamales are made with love and care, and they are all equally delicious. Definitely worth stopping by to support a small local business doing things with heart.
