About MingHin Cuisine - Lakeshore East

MingHin Cuisine - Lakeshore East offers a lively dining atmosphere with fresh and flavorful dishes. The restaurant is known for its extensive dim sum selection, featuring classic Cantonese items like pork buns, siu mai, shrimp shu mai, and cheung fun. Many guests have praised the quality of the food, stating it is consistently solid and a convenient downtown option for those craving dim sum without traveling to Chinatown. The crispy pork belly is also noted as a standout item. However, some reviews mention that while the food comes out quickly, the service can be unfriendly and lacking in attentiveness. Overall, MingHin Cuisine provides a fun spot for sharing meals, though the service experience may vary.

Exceptional--our go-to for both dim sum and delivery. The Japanese tofu with pea tips is incredible, and you have to try the XO noodles (which are not available on GrubHub or Doordash).

The whole experience is ruined by Metropolis parking, though.

I really do love coming here but it just isn't worth the random $50 penalties or the time it takes to dispute them. You might do everything right and still get a huge fee several weeks later. I wish they'd switch to an...read full review

Disappointing dim sum.

Nothing was bad but nothing was very tasty either. The steamed dishes I had were fairly bland, so had to add chili oil (which was also quite bland) to add some character.

The pan fried taro cake was very dry. So dipped it in my oyster sauce that came with the cheun fun.

The tea was excellent. Real leaves - not tea bag.

Service was fine - you order via their app. Its about a 10 to 15 min walk away from the Art Institute of Chicago.

I haven't been to Chicago in years, and asked friends for restaurant recommendations prior to my trip. Ming Hin was highly recommended! The food did not disappoint, everything was good. The 4* on service was due to being rushed, the close ordering down long before closing time, which is not advertised anywhere. If they are going to stop taking orders at X time, just make X time your closing hours.
