No one at the counter, was forced to order on the new kiosk , but the pictures of the food were incorrect. The new self ordering kiosk not giving paper receipts, only option for text and email,which normally would be be fine, except never received any of that. Finally when somebody showed up, asked for receipt, noticed a service charge. The server explained the charge is only if you order from kiosk, no charge if you order with live person. Pho Cafe down in Chinatown is low key one of the best spots for a hot bowl of soup. Stopped in for lunch on a cold afternoon and got the combination beef pho, crispy pork egg rolls, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. Broth was rich with great spice depth, and they give you a generous plate of fresh herbs and sprouts. Super quick service and a relaxed quiet space.
I’m used to having chili oil on the side since I prefer adding it to my pho, but what they had instead was chopped Thai bird’s eye chilis in fish sauce. It wasn’t bad at all though. The broth wasn’t super rich and tasted more like a standard pho base, but overall, it satisfied my craving. I will say, calling it a “house special” was kind of a stretch.
