About Small Cheval

Small Cheval is a burger spot near Wrigley Stadium in Wrigleyville. The restaurant has a chill atmosphere, good music, and good energy. The staff is super friendly and polite, and the walk-up ordering is efficient. The signature double cheeseburger is excellent for some, with tender and juicy meat and a perfect smashed burger edge that gets a little crispy. The cheese is melted perfectly into the patties, mixing well with grilled onions and pickles. However, other reviews found the burgers average, ridiculously over salted, or looking like a McDouble puck with disintegrated pickles and onions. The golden fries receive mixed reviews; some find them SUPER hot, crispy outside and soft inside, while others report cold, unsalted, or lukewarm fries. The garlic aioli is a good addition to the fries. The fried chicken is also recommended and is gluten free. The location is great and close to Wrigley Stadium, though a large portion of the restaurant was not air conditioned. For damn near $30, some find the experience pathetic and will likely not return.

From our of town, but we found this place on FindMeGF app. It's a cute place. I got a burger with gluten free bun and my partner got GF chicken fingers. No GF menu, just tell them about your gluten allergy. They have separate fryer for gluten free folks. There seems to be no cross-contamination either, we did not have any reaction. The food is really good. Not many variety but they do very well what they offer.
Was from out of town and wanted a burger. Was recommended and it did not disappoint. The burger and the fries was outstanding!! The bar tender was awesome and the atmosphere was amazing. Definitely recommend this place 100x times.
I came here on game day on my way to the Cubs– White Sox game. It was a madhouse and the entire neighborhood was just pure chaos. Still, they managed to get the food pretty quickly and the burger was absolutely great. I'd like to go back turn off peak so I can really take in all of it. What really stood out was just how friendly the staff was. It reminded me of southern hospitality back home.
