“Love this place - the setting, the warmth of the cozy seating areas inside by a fireplace. Large bar to sit at as well and outdoor seating. This place has Huge Potential!! They have a 'speakeasy' in the basement - clever! When we went, for opening evening, Rogers & Nienhaus played and they were great! Seating space at that time - left a lot to be desired but it was their Opening, so cutting slack.
I've been there 5-6 times since. Every time Rogers & Nienhaus plays and for other occasions - get together with friends in the Waterloo/Columbia area.
The staff are friendly, offer suggestions for drinks. I don't remember the name of the 'martini' I got a couple Sunday's ago but It Was Delicious!! included an edible flower, that extra special touch! Music was great!
The one not so good thing - - every time I've been there, they had very little to no food. Now, to their defense, this past weekend, they had a food truck scheduled and that truck did Not Show Up!
We did get the charcuterie Board and it was very good but we lucked out in getting the last one - Lots of cheese, meats, crackers and a bit of fruit, definitely a good choice.
I have a friend's son having their wedding and their reception in the near future, so, looking forward to how that goes and will let you know. The space looks inviting and open. Lots of potential for a variety of events. The views to the back and side are beautiful! Countryside and fields.
Hoping they bring R&N back to entertain as well as other 'smaller' bands -in the bar area.
And last but definitely not least - the bourbon I had was smooth!!! I'd recommend you give that and the space a try!“

“I recommend Cafe on the Abbey for anyone any day of the week! Breakfast or Lunch! The food, the service, the atmosphere is excellent. “We are full-time RVers who, while traveling around the US, are in search of the best cheeseburger and have a rating system of The Best (only 1 rated), Very Good, Good, OK, and Not Impressed. While at our home base in Southern Illinois, we were in the Columbia, IL, area and Googled “hamburger restaurants.” We saw Washy’s Pub had good burger reviews, so decided to give them a try for lunch. Washy’s has a simple bar atmosphere with about a dozen tables. We ordered their Classic burger with me having American cheese and my wife pepperjack. We also requested lettuce, pickles, and sliced onions. The handmade patties were about 10 oz (good sized), nicely seasoned, cooked to order, charbroiled, and served on a nicely-toast fresh bun. I had their skinny-style battered fries and my wife had onion rings. The burgers came out hot and were super tasty due the meat seasoning. We’re not sure what seasoning they used, but it worked! My wife’s burger was just a tiny bit better than mine due the pepperjack they use. The fries and onion rings were among the best we’ve had as well. We rated the burgers (even without a special sauce), fries, and onion rings Very Good. The service was also top notch.“

“This was such a nice quiet place tucked away. The meal pictured was just 1 meal we split in half between the two of us. So it's safe to say they don't skimp on the portions. “Cellar House is an Oakville treasure. The brunch is fantastic, the burgers are delicious, the power bowls somehow make eating healthy actually enjoyable, and the Brussels sprouts are so good they have no business being Brussels sprouts.

The drinks are always perfect, which obviously matters. 😂

But can we talk about the bathrooms? They have an entire selection of different hand soaps and lotions. I go in to wash my hands and suddenly I’m at Bath & Body Works doing product testing. Do I need to try three different soaps? No. Do I? Absolutely.

“Grilled ham and cheese was fantastic. Nice thick ham!!! Wife had the chili dog especially liked that it was cut in half and grilled then chili added!!! “Amazing food - best Persian-style cuisine in STL so far and some of the best anywhere we've traveled. Saffron chicken kebab was beyond tender and so flavorful. Their version of biryani was delicious, too, and the gyro was solid. The sambosas were a great starter, and even the fries that came with the gyro were good. We'll be back to try more dishes soon!“

We haven’t had anything we didn’t love and my suggestion is don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t see something on the menu. They have added to and adjusted multiple dishes for our liking.

“This Waffle House on Telegraph Road was fantastic! The service was incredibly fast—our food came out so quickly that it felt like it arrived almost before we finished ordering. Everything was hot, fresh, and exactly what we were craving.

Our server was attentive from start to finish, making sure our drinks stayed filled and that we had all the condiments we needed. It was clear the team was focused on providing great customer service.

I also noticed several managers outside actively beautifying the property, trimming trees and taking pride in maintaining the restaurant's appearance. That level of care really stood out.

It was not something that was paid for so I appreciate that 100% I don't know who it was at the window.
