The service was good, the food not so much. Easy fix for pancakes that tasted like flour and water- add vanilla extract and cinnamon. For the vegetable omele, sautee the vegetable first in olive oil or butter and add a bit of salt and pepper. It was so bland. Easy fixes to make your dishes more flavorful!
Free port doesn't offer a lot of places to eat breakfast. According to my husband they have the best biscuits and gravy in town. I personally prefer the apple for the french toast. He says the coffee is not good. I always drink hot tea and honey. Not a lot of tables for small parties. Mostly booths. Several tables for larger groups. Always busy!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Great family feel.

We stop in the Beltline Cafe on our way to Galena and are NEVER disappointed! It's the Cafe that time forgot because their prices are from the 60's. I order the #3 which consist of 2 eggs, hash browns, toast and your choice of sausage/Bacon or ham. I get the sausage patty which is the SIZE of my HAND ✋!!!
