“I'm glad I found this little gem. The own is super welcoming and kind. The coffee was the best I've had I'm a long time and the food was amazing! And the prices were on point. It's a tight space and that's my only complaint, but I'm not even complaining. Go here, you'll be happy you did.
Vegetarian options: Small menu, in general, but a few vegan options.“

“This place is the new spot for our cozy family gatherings now! We loved the warm atmosphere and authenticity in every small detail. Tea and Turkish coffee in a pot were 10/10! We were treated like dear friends and will definitely come back!“

“Visiting from out of town and this place came up when searching for brunch nearby. Hostess was very welcoming and attentive. Ordered the salmon sandwich and grilled avocado sandwich as well as the kale smoothie. Everything was delicious. Really glad we got to try this place.“

“One of the friendliest spits in Chicago. The food is good - outstanding sausage, and you have to have their home-made salsa - and it's an incredible bargain, especially their breakfast "sidewalk special."“

“Lovely quirky local place that everyone in the neighborhood adores.
I love the hippie vibe of it, everyone working there is caring and love Spoken - it seems like more than just a work place, which is a great sign imo. In many coffee shops the to go or for here served in disposable plates and cups. Spoken is not like this. For your to stay you will get real bowls and spoons. So nice. And they encourage to bring your own mug. My kind of people!
Everything is delusions and unlike many places - Spoken has not succumbed to “shrinkflation” and your grits will be satisfying in taste and servicing size.
Oh and gluten free selection! Is outstanding. depending on a day - it really is an amazing variety and so goood that I am afraid to tell my non GF fiends to try as it is addictive good not just “I will settle for as I have to”.
Only downside- its devout following and small size means this place is busy. And I hope it will stay this way as I want Spoken in the hood for ever!“

“Amazing food. Staff was great and the owner likes Kola Champagne lol so he stocks it. Perfect way to celebrate my kids' graduations. Hopefully I can host a Cars and Coffee there. Best of luck, we will spread the word.“

“Brilliant espresso. Very friendly service. Most of the pastries left were vegan/gluten free, so I didn't try them.
Fantastic place for either a quick stop or hang out with friends. Or work on your laptop if that's your thing...“

“I'm sad I didn't know about this place sooner, I come to the area once a week. The food is delicious, I got the meatball tostini. I've been going to the Common Cup, the coffee is ok & the food is bland. Please support this place if you want a chill sit down spot, especially if your hungry or want to eat, drink coffee and study. I will for sure be coming back!“

“Wonderful restaurant. Sorry I didn’t get to say “Hello” to Chef Bolaños. He was talking to some friends. We were dining there on Sunday. A wonderful guitarist playing. Perfect music for dining. Great tapas! Love, love, loved the Pulpo a la Planxta, the Patatas Barillos and the Melon con Jamon Serrano. The Mariscos Paella was good, but I missed the crispy bottom rice. Nice little place. Great menu that lights up. It’s BYOB, and fortunately there is a store across the street that has wine! If you forget to bring your own. Have already recommended it to others.“

“I am well versed in food, and I truly love breakfast food. Planning our visit to Chicago was going to include a place to eat, and the decision settled with A Taste Of Heaven. I am so glad that we made that choice. The wait time was very acceptable for a late Sunday morning stop, and the staff were all welcoming, inviting, and graciously warm. On top of a perfect interaction and beautiful decor, the food was PERFECT!!! That is hands down the best plate of biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten. The other food at the table that I sampled didn't disappoint either. Carmel Apple French Toast with fresh whipped cream. Corned Beef and Hash. I will 100% be back, and will continue too recommend this to everyone.“

“I’ve been here a few times and have always appreciated the friendliness of the staff, the variety of drink and food options, and the space/atmosphere.
It’s a great spot for remote work, though it can get quite popular, so it might not be ideal if you need a quieter environment!“

“Wow! What an awesome place. I live very close to this restaurant, but had never been in to check it out. I wish I would've found it sooner. The coffee was delicious and I had the fatta - so fresh and filling. Lots of options - vegetarian, spicy, whatever you wish for and they have a lot of gelato options too. Very kind staff and very clean place. Nice tables for sitting. I can't wait to go back to try more dishes!“

“Such a cozy spot for a nice warm and refreshing meal! You can sit on the floor which is great for the neurodivergents or those who just want to stretch. The tuna sandwich was so good and packed with healthy flavor. The chai was a good compliment too! Staff were so kind and helped us get great food and drink on a chilly day!“

“Very cute interior and consistently kind service, but I often find the drinks lacking what I'd expect from the caliber and price point of this place. Even a cortado felt dilute and soggy, somehow.
*HOWEVER the pourover is great. Maybe just stay away from espresso-based beverages and you'll be fine.“

“This was such a wonderful experience! The space is tasteful and, as in the name, cozy. Felt real. Ricky, the owner who was serving, asked me right away how my day was going — but in a way that communicated that he ACTUALLY wanted to know. And given the morning I’d had, this was sooo welcomed. The coffee was great and I loved the original names with personal meaning he had given to each pastry (one was named after his late Mama Loretta, another after his favorite jazz musician and when anyone orders it, he plays a particular song.)
I learned about how dedicated he is to creating this warm, inviting and authentic space for the community, and his fascinating backstory of working a super well paid job, then giving it up for this dream. I only wish I lived closer to this special gem of warmth and kindness in this often rushed and cold city.“

“THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE BREAD! For all of my gluten intolerant friends, come here to enjoy a nice sandwich, good coffee, and even better vibes.
This is a great spot to get some work done or catch up with a friend. There is quiet, mid-tempo music and a soft buzz of conversation. (Unlike some other coffee shops that really crank the music, the atmosphere here is very chill.)
Will definitely be back!
Vegetarian options: They have a veggie sandwich option that is very good!
Dietary restrictions: Good for gluten intolerant folks! If you are celiac, just double check about cross contamination.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible dining area and bathroom.“

“Absolutely the best pancakes that I have tasted in a very long time.
If you are like me, and steer away from pancakes because they just don't taste as good as your great-grandmother's, you have to eat a stack at this cafe.
The first bite literally took me to my grandmother's table. I could not be happier with my breakfast today.
The service is consistent, the atmosphere is cozy, and.... well you know what I think about the food.
5/5 all around.“

“We went here for dinner and loved it! The ambience inside and on the patio is so nice, we sat inside by the open door to the patio and enjoyed a nice breeze. I had the lemon chicken with mashed potatoes, which was absolutely superb (perfect cook on the chicken), and my husband loved the beef goulash. We also enjoyed the cheese curd appetizer and drinks from the cafe - a chai apple cider and a caramel apple butter latte, both of which were fantastic for fall. We didn’t try anything from the bakery because we were too full, but that looked delicious as well. The staff was great. Would highly recommend as a top choice in Lincoln Square. We will definitely be back!“

“We had a delightful stop for a Mother's Day lunch on our way to the Chicago Botanic Garden. Everything from the food and drinks to the music and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic! My wife, Dr. Maryam, opted for the healthy avocado toast with a side salad and hot chai, while my son, Kamran, savored the mac & cheese. I indulged in the grilled cheese, accompanied by a side salad and mushroom coffee. The music, courtesy of La Tosca, was simply magnificent — bravo! Their violin and accordion performance was truly superb. Though I briefly spotted Billy and Chloe, I resisted the urge to fan out and ask for an autograph, thanks to Billy's timely disappearance. Nonetheless, Chloe greeted us kindly, making the experience even more enjoyable. We're definitely planning to revisit for the outstanding food, drinks, music, and ambiance.“
