“A wonderful night. The waiter misheard my order and corrected it straight away, which I was really grateful for. But then he brought the most decadent turtle cheesecake to make it up to us, and the taste alone was so worth the wait. I really recommend the lamb, it melts in your mouth, and I think tastes the way a good steak should. I really thank the staff for showing up for us at every point, as we were positive we made a reservation for the dining room but ended up at the bar upstairs. They found a way and quickly sorted us a table when it was obvious that it was difficult to do so. It was refreshing to be treated so kindly by everyone involved. Needless to say, we'll be back.“

“Was recently at the Oyster Bar to celebrate my moving OUT of Illinois to the gulf coast of Mississippi. Service was great. Food was great. It was rather warm inside the bar. We were fanning ourselves and it wasn’t hot that day. Temp was only 84 outside. Oysters and drinks were fantastic. Felt the ceviche could have used a little less jalapeño peppers. They overpowered the other ingredients and that was all we tasted. Still had a great time!! My bill was money well spent!!“

“Peoria Illinois. We arrived 5 minutes before closing. They had to special make my shrimp. I felt bad that they had to do that, but they were apologizing that I had to wait! We told them we had traveled 10 hours and they went out of their way to make sure our order was exactly what we wanted. They were working over to make our meal! I hope Long John's appreciates those hard workers! This positive attitude made our day!“

“My server, Jake was awesome...very friendly, quick with service and professional. The food was good but was a little bland for my tastes but probably perfect for those who don't add a lot of seasonings other than salt and pepper. My one dissatisfaction was that the hostess was on her phone and facing away from the entrance so I had to call her attention to my presence after waiting for about 30 seconds hoping she'd look up and notice me.“

We asked about being able to decorate a little and to our surprise, the Lariat set us up in the small meeting room up front! This allowed us to decorate a little more! We were a part of three men - each had a different cut of beef - and each of us were very pleased. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. We share appetizers which were also very good - the crab cakes arrives with visible CHUNKS of crab. Somehow we even had room to share carrot cake - which did not disappoint! The service was also on point. Very “Midwest” friendly, but never intrusive. She offered very helpful suggestions and was attentive throughout the evening. The wine list is not impressive and the atmosphere is “fine.” But I will be back!“
