“I was out riding my ebike through the neighborhood tonight, listening to Volver Volver by Vicente Fernández (as one does), when I came across what honestly felt like a dream — a taco truck parked in the front yard of a house.

I ride around all the time listening to Mexican classics and kind of half-jokingly hope that someday a Mexican family will wave me over for tacos. Well… it finally happened. Sort of. No wave, just a sizzling grill and the amazing smell of carne asada coming from a taco truck glowing under string lights in somebody’s front yard “Estas abierto??” I asked , thinking maybe they were just getting home from the day and cleaning stuff.

“Si!” she said to my amazement… I pulled my bike over immediately.

$7.50 for a packed steak taco and a Jarritos, and it was fantastic. The people running it were kind, the food was made with care, and the whole experience just had this warm, neighborhood magic to it.

I hope they stick around. I will definitely be back. If you’re lucky enough to come across them, stop. Eat. Tip well. These are the kind of local gems that make a neighborhood feel like home.“
