“We tried Rusty Nail Saloon for lunch today. The soup was great, Walleye special was huge and cooked perfectly, and the rest of our meal was delicious. our server, Michelle, was quick, friendly, and attentive. We will definitely go back!“

“I took my boys here on a Saturday at around 4:30 after a trip to the Volo museum. We were immediately greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive waitress. The appetizer plate had the best onion rings and these creamy smoky bacon Gouda Mac n cheese bites that were to die for! Pan pizza came out as a deep dish and my teenager loved it. My oldest and I got the rib and broasted chicken combo…. OMG No regrets! The chicken was seasoned well with a delicious, crispy, light breading and the ribs were fall off the bone scrumptious with a perfect smoky/sweet bbq sauce. Do NOT skip the peach cobbler!! The warm, crispy peaches and streusel topping tasted like it was made with love. What a great place and we absolutely love our server. She was engaging and knew the menu. Will definitely return!“

Whether they can sit at the bar to have their meal served by the train, or just watch it from a table, they absolutely love it and it's an experience we can't get anywhere else. Food is always good and service always excellent. I like that the new(er) owners made a few changes to keep the charm but get rid of a little clutter.“

“I'm telling you. Their Biscuits and gravy are by far my favorite from Busy Bee. I've tried so many other places in and around mchenry, and some are fine. But I love how Creamy and almost buttery these are. I get them every single time I go.

My husband loves that he can get lunch food while I stoll get my breakfast.

The skillets ate amazing and so is the chicken salad crescent (which is his temporary favorite)“

“We have been going there for the last five years bragging about the hamburgers. Went there today order the hamburger it came out. Almost fully well done very poor quality. One asked If I could have gotten it rare was told menu says medium well. Meat was of a quality as if it was cooked earlier this week. Definitely will not be going back for hamburgers. Was told by the waitress No one will ask you how you want it done it says on the menu. We used to consider it best burger in town.“

“My family of six ate at Culvers in McHenry on Tuesday, Dec 31 about 1:30. We were greeted with a pleasant hello. The lady who took our order got it right and was pleasant.Since were a group of 6, I figured it would take a little longer to get our order. That wasn't the case. Not only did the order come quickly, but is also accurate. That was wonderful! When we were nearing the end of our meal, a gentleman, (Jude, I believe) can around with free samples of the flavor of the day (Mint explosion). Never has that happened at Colvers to me in the many times I eat at different Culvers! What a nice touch! Upon leaving, we got a cheery Thank you, have a great day and happy new year. I wish I lived a little closer because Culvers in McHenry would definitely be my go to place. Thank you for good food and the kindness you all showed.“

“We have a blast every time we come to the VFW. The renovation, guests and staff make it the perfect ‘where everybody knows your name’ place to be. I can’t say enough about our favorite bartender, Kelly! She is such a sweetheart and remembers our favorite ‘beverage’ even after months of our last visit.

McHenry is so blessed to have this special place to have your favorite cocktail and GREAT food.“

“We went here last night for Singo and what a great time! There was about 40 people playing and it was soooo fun!!! The food here is OUTSTANDING! They have a limited menu of flatbreads and sliders! Don’t be fooled by the limited options. They offer all types of flatbreads and sliders! Delicious!!
The 2 girls that run this, Tara and Kenzie, are fantastic!!! These 2 did everything from cooking to bartending to serving! The service was top notch!

“We ate at the BratHaus on Tuesday for lunch. The food and service was excellent and the owner, Jerry, was kind enough to listen to stories of my childhood, working in the hardware store that my great grandfather started back in the early 1900s. Was lucky enough to work for my grandpa there while in middle school. Great to see some of the original things that have been kept. We will be back next time we visit.“

“Came here yesterday (Friday) around 8pm with my husband and 3 kids. Parking is on the side, there was stairs going up and stairs going to the balcony and stairs going to the patio, no signs where to go so we went through the patio and thought we should go inside so they can sit us down, we went up to the balcony and inside. It was pretty slow so we observed and thought its self order and sit anywhere. It was a young cashier, i asked her if the shrimp was boiled or fried and she said “you eat it raw” (looking at the pictures now they’re not raw) so i just bought an Italian beef, diablo burger (from its name i thought it was going to be spicy which is why we got it but it wasn’t at all ) chicken tenders and a plain cheese burger, all came with fries and spent $60 and $16 + tip for 3 drinks and beer at the bar. We took our food to the patio where there was a tent, First thing we saw was big spiders and no netting under the railing so I had to move the kids so they don’t accidentally fall off their chairs and into the water. It was dark, we didn’t see the ants on our table until we started eating.“

Today - based on the owner's recommendation - we started with a cupl of their meat and veggie soup that did not make it on the official menu - sorry missed a photo of it - delish! 😍 Pork, chicken and beef in a savory broth chock full of veggies - carrots, celery, onion 🤤 followed that with the egg salad appetizer, one of our absolute favs 🤩 4 toasted rounds of bread with their excellent egg salad 👍 then we tried the new potato pancakes entree for the first time, which came topped with assorted grilled veggies, plus toast, eggs and hollandaise sauce.. we got the eggs scrambled, rye toast buttered, sauce on the side, and requested a side of sour cream. YUM 😋 ended up with the vanilla cake with vanilla frosting - sorry to miss a photo of that too. Awesome! Service was timely, water glasses attentively refilled, as was the coffee too. $31 Note: it was one order of each item as we always split 🤯 We also got 2 bloody Marys and 2 mimosas, plus a Bailey's, kahlua and amaretto mix to add to our coffee as a nightcap from Old Bridge Tavern next door $48 Left with no leftovers and completely satisfied, happy and full.“

“we love coming here for breakfast. great atmosphere, employees are always upbeat and in the best of moods. generous portions for the prices. variety of choices. I have my favorites that I rotate through. I in particular love the gyro skillet. if I have a sweet tooth I get the belly buster, the choice that has the pancake and add strawberry and whip cream. the pancakes are FLUFFY, so good. our baby always gets a scramble egg on the side and she pretty much launches at my hand while feeding her so apparently I need to start cooking with butter at home or whatever they do. we always leave full and talking about how nice those people are on our way home.“

“First time customers. Had the southwest chicken sandwich it was great! While we were there they started singo. We decided to stay and play and had a lot of fun! Everyone was very nice and the bartender was very attentive! Prices were very reasonable and comparable to other places. I saw other reviews about the pricing being outrageous and I didn't think they were any higher priced than any other bar and grill. There are plenty others that are higher priced and for smaller portions. Perhaps those people don't frequent the grocery store! Also noticed that there were small games there to play which is nice for people that have kids while they are waiting for their food! Would definitely go back again!“
