“This place is the best. The food is to die for. I have been to Boonies several times now and i have yet to have a menu item that i haven't absolutely loved. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere and playlist are great. I can't recommend this place enough!“
“There was a line out when we got there, around 12:30pm on a Saturday. The place is small and busy but it feels organized. Line moved fairly quickly. My friend got the mushroom adobo and I got the combo Filipino breakfast and it was delicious. We also shared some pastries and the truffle croissant was surprisingly tasty and different. Loved it! ? We’ll definitely be back to try the dinner menu.“
“I was craving Longanisa alongside the traditional Filipino breakfast so after reviewing a few menus I chose Uncle Mike’s. I wish I had tried them sooner because EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! I got curbside the food was ready before the designated time and the service couldn’t be better. I ordered the Steak and Tocino combo with a side of Longanisa because I’ve never tried Tocino before. The meal came with complimentary rice soup, Filipino porridge, and Chocolate rice for a sweet treat. The portions are so generous I got full half way through everything so I’ll have enough left over to indulge in tomorrow for breakfast. I love Uncle Mike’s and I will be returning very soon. If the food and service was this amazing by way of takeout then the dine in experience will be just as good if not better.“
“Been going here since they opened, the menu has changed a few times with new edits or additions but the core of what makes this place specials always remains the same. The food is delicious, the service is great, and you can tell love, care, and passion are brought into the space. The fusion of flavors is amazing and the care put into the prep and presentation is always there. I always excited when a new menu is added. We are lucky to have Chef Lawrence in this neighborhood. I am super excited for his new tasting menu here and looking forward to the diner experience a few buildings west of this spot.“

“Absolutely love new Filipino restaurants popping up in the area. Street parking, open early and through dinner. Fireplace by the front windows, multiple drinks and foods available. Handicap entrance, but the counter to order has stairs so I'm not sure how that is handled. My wife and I went early morning on a weekday as soon as they opened. Limited seating inside, but we were able to get out items quickly. Filipino breakfast is served all day but it is very expensive for their servings. We got the longanisa (2pc) and spam (1pc) combo and it was around 10 after tax, but compared to Uncle Mike's around the corner, their portion seemed like an appetizer. I ordered an Ube latte. I took the pistachio milk (cost extra) vs whole milk. I was surprised and happy to see the it was not overly sweetened for a latte or an Ube drink. It's was more creamy from the milk and very subtle Ube flavor. The milk almost masks the purple potato flavor.I noticed that their lattes depend on their espresso machine. Unfortunately it produces one at a time so during rush hours, expect a wait.“
“When I came to Chicago for the first time in a while, a Filipino restaurant had opened and Filipino fried chicken was becoming popular. One weekday afternoon, as I was looking at the menu posted in the window of this restaurant, a woman passing by said, ``I came here for the first time the other day, and it was delicious.''So I visited right away.Apparently it opens in the afternoon on weekdays and from 12pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We decided to have brunch at 1:30 on Saturday. The interior looks like an American bar,I saw people who looked like they were from the Philippines. I haven't seen any Filipinos at Lakeview, so I have high hopes for this place. From the brunch menu,I order a set of Filipino sausage, egg, and garlic rice. There is only one white male staff member, who takes orders, pays the bill, cleans up, servers, and also talks to the customers sitting at the counter, and is very efficient. The brunch set was delicious, but the quantity was small, so I also ordered lumpia (fried spring rolls).Asian food is basically home-cooked food, so I felt the prices were high, but considering the location, it might be reasonable.“
“The puto is amazing at Ima’s! It’s spongy, moist, and subtly sweet. Perfect! I purchased the plain, ube, and pandan and my family was very happy.I spoke whom I believe was the owner and he was very knowledgeable about dietary allergies (gluten-free, dairy-free, nuts). He also explained they make their own rice flour in-house by grinding their own rice. Amazing! They also have a hot bar of food and frozen desserts.Everything is to-go. No dine-in.“
“Had an amazing dining experience at Max's Restaurant in Chicago! The Filipino cuisine was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The warm and inviting atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment. Don't miss out on their signature dishes—they're a true culinary delight! Can't wait to visit again. ?? #MaxsChicago #FoodieHeaven“
