“This is a gem. I wish I lived closer as I would eat here regularly. The menu is a bit meat and tree nut heavy which concerned me but the sole special was delicious and the Gelato was lovely though the portion was too large. The prices were very fair. I suggest you try this restaurant!“

“I was in the other day for lunch and the music was so loud, you couldn't talk to the person next to you without shouting. Your fish fry is very good and I want to keep coming in, but with the music that loud, I will be going elsewhere.“

“The best Corned Beef around. Stopped in for a sandwich and all I can say is WOW! Added the homemade coleslaw and it was amazing! Great Views of the river abd sun was shining on the beautiful stained glass window accents. Service was great! Price was fair and we will return!“

If you have the opportunity to be invited, you should definitely go and enjoy the lineage. Not many places left that run solely from the charity and hard work of the members to upkeep such an amazing place with such history.“

I’ve visited at least a half dozen times and the experience has been fine. Trish and the other bartenders have been attentive and quite friendly. I’ll be back time and time again.“

“Great local bar with the best bartenders in the area. If you want to experience what real Elgin is like, look no further than Hoppes! They have Fish Fry on Fridays but I’ve never had it but I want to. The owners are great and their sexy son, Chad, works some nights and is great eye candy for the ladies. If you want a bartender that serves up honesty along with great drinks, Jimmy is your man. He’s brutally honest so ask him to roast you for a good time. He once referred to a customer as the Vampire of Fun and he was spot on. Tiffany is a ball of energy, whose spirit is infectious. If you’re having a bad day, go during her shifts and she’ll pick you up immediately. Gale is the last bartender I’ve interacted with who works there. He’s a cool calm dude who can tell you some of the most interesting facts of the area. He’s also a caterer and a butcher when not at the bar. Theres someone for everyone here and if you’re in from out of town or just traveling through, have a stop at Hoppes just so you can say you’ve been there.“

“Most days of the week there's something going on at Madcats. My wife and I live in the neighborhood. When the weather is good we walk over. Our favorite is the Blues Jam on the last Sunday of each month. Great food and drinks. Shoutout to Anna and Felix for friendly service as well as Savio and Madcat.“

“1. Food is delicious (I ordered the fried wings and corn with melted cheese)
2. Drinks are soooooo good. Like incredibly delicious and not overly bitter or too sweet.
3. Service is so nice here. Literally such kind and helpful staff.
4. The karaoke machine is so easy to navigate and use. And the fact that most days out of the week, the rooms are free to use for one hour before 10pm. I have been there twice now and I have enjoyed every single thing about this place.

Bartender, Jasmine, was super friendly and told us about other specials they offer other days. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a new place to have a drink at a local Dive Bar.“

“Came here for the first time recently. Don't know why it took so long! We live close by. Great onion rings and pizza, good fast service, enjoyed the free popcorn too! Very nice, clean atmosphere. Will definitely come again!“
“Definitely a very calm atmosphere. This place is a gaming area and on the weekends it turns into like a small flea market period There is a Mexican restaurant to the left side of the building and a bingo area to the right side of the building you can get all authentic Mexican food and enjoy some time with family and friends for dinner at their nice restaurant that they have it's definitely worth a trip. Due to the many facilities that they have attached to each other I'm not exactly sure about the hours so that you'd have to double check me for leaving.“

“Maybe 2 behind the bar for the weekend? We had a blast and I can handle the wait but respectfully just wanted to throw out the thought.

“Such a fun spot! Stopped in after dinner for a drink, not realizing it was a themed racing bar. Had the best time! Was offered a free demo to try out the racing simulator and this place turned a regular date night something super memorable! Would highly recommend. Hope to come back again soon.“
