“We hosted an end of the season tackle football banquet for 50 people in the party room at JJ Twig’s in Wauconda tonight. Tiffany was a dream to work with — super responsive, accommodating, and had great insight into just how much food to order. The party room was the perfect private venue that allowed our rambunctious group of 10 year old boys some space to roam without disturbing other diners. Food was good — we ordered pizzas, baked mostaccioli, meatballs, chicken tenders and salad. Compared to other local venues we considered, JJ Twig’s is a real value. Along with the good food and great service, JJ Twig’s is the full package!“

“I took my boys here on a Saturday at around 4:30 after a trip to the Volo museum. We were immediately greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive waitress. The appetizer plate had the best onion rings and these creamy smoky bacon Gouda Mac n cheese bites that were to die for! Pan pizza came out as a deep dish and my teenager loved it. My oldest and I got the rib and broasted chicken combo…. OMG No regrets! The chicken was seasoned well with a delicious, crispy, light breading and the ribs were fall off the bone scrumptious with a perfect smoky/sweet bbq sauce. Do NOT skip the peach cobbler!! The warm, crispy peaches and streusel topping tasted like it was made with love. What a great place and we absolutely love our server. She was engaging and knew the menu. Will definitely return!“

“😀Great food, however, the “build your own burger“was a disappointment. The onions tasted bitter and very salty. I got the worst case of heartburn from this burger! OMG. Otherwise, everything else is top quality! Be careful when ordering this “build your own burger.”🍔 I’ve never tasted onions so bad, and seem to be imbedded into the meat that tasted so bitter and awful salty. “I stopped in to lulu’s tonight for dinner and let me tell you the food is so good! I got an Italian beef which was very filling and delicious! The wife got the Italian on focaccia and this thing was great! Kenzie was very friendly and very helpful ordering. Overall this place is truly a hidden gem! If you haven’t stopped in I highly recommend you take a trip. You won’t be disappointed!“

“We have been going there for the last five years bragging about the hamburgers. Went there today order the hamburger it came out. Almost fully well done very poor quality. One asked If I could have gotten it rare was told menu says medium well. Meat was of a quality as if it was cooked earlier this week. Definitely will not be going back for hamburgers. Was told by the waitress No one will ask you how you want it done it says on the menu. We used to consider it best burger in town.“

“We enjoyed another great evening at Coopers Hawk Kildeer. We choose Coopers Hawk not only for their great drinks, food preparation and portions, but also because they have substantial Gluten-Free options and dedicated fryers so everyone can enjoy. They take allergy consciousness seriously. While Kyle our server was prompt, courteous, and engaging I have to say the entire staff gave us a feeling they truly appreciated our choice dining with them. Everyone we spoke with or even passed in the hallway smiled and made eye contact. The Pretzel bread (including Gluten-Free bread) along with appetizers (Calamari & Brussel Sprouts) were the perfect size for our party of five(5) to share. We enjoyed a variety of dishes (Chicken, Pretzel-Crusted Pork Chops, Spaghetti w/Meatballs, Gnocchi Alla Vodka, and Salad w/Chicken & Avocado), all delicious. Flourless cake and two other desserts were shared and delicious. Overall highly recommended as we have had consistent high quality food and service at this location.“

Lake perch fish fry was fantastic as were the grilled shrimp and curly fries. Can’t wait to go back on a nice day and sit outdoors with a beautiful lake view!“

“My family of six ate at Culvers in McHenry on Tuesday, Dec 31 about 1:30. We were greeted with a pleasant hello. The lady who took our order got it right and was pleasant.Since were a group of 6, I figured it would take a little longer to get our order. That wasn't the case. Not only did the order come quickly, but is also accurate. That was wonderful! When we were nearing the end of our meal, a gentleman, (Jude, I believe) can around with free samples of the flavor of the day (Mint explosion). Never has that happened at Colvers to me in the many times I eat at different Culvers! What a nice touch! Upon leaving, we got a cheery Thank you, have a great day and happy new year. I wish I lived a little closer because Culvers in McHenry would definitely be my go to place. Thank you for good food and the kindness you all showed.“

“I've been eating at Bacchus for years. Never disappoints, food always fresh ! Love the seafood, their sauces are delicious and makes the dish exceptional. One of my favorites is the bacon wrapped sea scallops and the grilled salmon. Desserts are fresh and they have seasonal specials. Clean and cozy. The staff makes you feel like family. Must try!“

“While in town for a funeral we stopped to have dinner with the family. Later that evening we realize a wallet had been lost. In addition to being 40 minutes away that night we live 5 hours away and this was a major inconvenience. The next morning on the way to the funeral home I made contact with the restaurant and asked that they check around for the wallet. After several IMMEDIATELY RETURNED messages, they found it! Of course this was a huge relief. In addition to being impressed with the quick response, concern and empathy for our situation…the dining experience was amazing. Great views. “Most of this review is based on nostalgia. When I was a teenager, my dad would take me here when he got off work (when it was only underground) so I could eat pizza and he could have a couple cocktails. Though I live a thousand miles away, I was able to take my kids to this place so they could enjoy the pizza (along with me). Still a great tavern style thin crust. No, I didn’t have any drinks but I was able to get them to open the downstairs for us so my sons could delight in the amazingly unique and memorable decor of the basement. The place above ground has changed a lot, but the pizza, the downstairs pub, and the memories haven’t“

Parking is on the side, there was stairs going up and stairs going to the balcony and stairs going to the patio, no signs where to go so we went through the patio and thought we should go inside so they can sit us down, we went up to the balcony and inside. It was pretty slow so we observed and thought its self order and sit anywhere. It was a young cashier, i asked her if the shrimp was boiled or fried and she said “you eat it raw” (looking at the pictures now they’re not raw) so i just bought an Italian beef, diablo burger (from its name i thought it was going to be spicy which is why we got it but it wasn’t at all ) chicken tenders and a plain cheese burger, all came with fries and spent $60 and $16 + tip for 3 drinks and beer at the bar. We took our food to the patio where there was a tent, First thing we saw was big spiders and no netting under the railing so I had to move the kids so they don’t accidentally fall off their chairs and into the water. It was dark, we didn’t see the ants on our table until we started eating.“

Typically we play it safe with the BOGO Double Butter Burger Deluxe burgers w/o bread but tonite we were feeling like a change of pace so I took a chance a called to what other GF options we had. Olivia was an absolute rock star and knew all the answers to my gluten free questions. She spoke to me on the phone and then assisted with my additional questions once I was onsite to order. “No Wake continues to be a favorite spot of ours. We are always sat quickly, and the service is super friendly. Location is great on the Fox River, and the food is great too! Menu is large with plenty of options for everyone. We have tried multiple appetizers and sandwiches/wraps and enjoyed them all. My husband is a huge fan of the burger which you can tell is made with fresh quality meat. Plenty of seating options inside but we especially enjoy the patio. Bonus points for allowing your pup outside and their own doggy menu is a cute touch.“
