“Great place with unique and eclectic menu. The bay bun appetizers are good but could use a little kiss of hoisin and acid… otherwise delicious. The mixed plate is a hit with all of the meats with a different treatment of spice and herbs… outstanding. Yanok is an awesome host and we felt comfortable and welcomed in his restaurant. “We always enjoy dining at Altiro and last night was no exception. The Cinco de mayo paired down menu offered enough choices and while our server was new, she was lovely & the manager very attentive . if i could offer 1 suggestion it would be to expand the bar options to include wine.“

“I really liked the place. The restaurant is very cute inside and has a nice bar. We ordered a couple margaritas which were good. The all you can eat chips were amazing along with the salsa. My only complaint was my dinner was so spicy and it was just fish tacos. My other friends also complained about the same thing. One had shrimp tacos and the other shrimp enchiladas. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and don't remember those types of dishes being that spicy. All in all I would come back again as drinks and chips were very good.“

“We were seated quickly and our server was fantastic! Young and extremely impressive demeanor working with not just us but we noticed other tables as well. We were visiting from a couple hours away and I had been looking forward to this trip. I had the salmon which was well cooked and my husband had the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes. “This is a magnificent representative of the South American cuisine, including peruvian, Argentinean, Brazilian, and Ecuadorian. Today, we had the lomo Saltado acholado, the peruvian seafood fried rice, and the appetizer sampler. The portions are very generous, and one dish is enough for sharing between two people. They also give you br3d and sauce very delicious. The price is hifg but it is good for a special occasion.“

“I was a bit disappointed the first couple of times here - they were never open on time and never answered, whether coming at 11:30 a.m. or at noon. But finally they got their act together and they've been open. Just a quick heads up, they're related to La Unica in Rodgers Park and I have to say the food is somewhat equal. There's no BYOB here but everything tastes the same like the original. The menu here is slimed down a bit and they have pics on the wall to help you if you're, como se dice, unfamiliar with a Central and/or South American menu. The oxtail, beef stew, and maduros are favorites. That gravy is so good, I wish I knew the recipe, it's so Muy bien carnal.“
