Still to this day, after having been to numerous coffee shops throughout numerous cities, it is still the best Shot in the Dark I've ever had. Arabic music videos playing on the television and tons of informational and educational materials about countries of the Middle East region were present and available for us to look at during our wait for some of THE BEST food we've had in Evansville. The lovely couple who own the business were beyond hospitable and accommodating. We ordered the You Pick Two with a selection of shish tawook and merguez. The chicken (shish tawook) was SO incredibly tender and flavorful, not to mention how incredibly juicy it was! The merguez sausage was grilled to perfection. It was our first time trying this dish and it did not disappoint. Perfectly seasoned and spiced, I will definitely be ordering this again-SOON! Basmati aromatic rice was incredible coupled with the meats. The hummus was in my top 2 for Evansville eateries, and possibly tied for first, depending on the mood at any given time. Definitely give the Turkish coffee a try! And the kids LOVED the chocolate mousse. On top of having some of the very best Mid Eastern food I've sampled thus far, I was surprised that the French fries were undoubtedly the very best I've ever had. I don't rank 10/10 for a lot of things, but Kabob Express gets that from me today! Will DEFINITELY be back ASAP 💕 🥰 😋 🤤”

My 93 year old mother would love the few less steps to the restaurant. I would have loved one of those closer spots when I broke my foot. Why are those closer parking spots for the staff and not for customers? I find that strange. The staff I see parking close seem to walk just fine and are not loading items. They just seem to be leaving for the night. Please designate the closer parking spots for customers and not just for staff and waiters only. Thank you.”

“Some of my earliest childhood memories are of going to Merry Go Round with my grandparents, where we were always treated with the kind of warmth and hospitality you never forget. I can still remember getting lost in the charm of it all — the diner feel that nodded back to its early days, the carousel horses proudly displayed at every angle, and of course, the unforgettable cooking — especially the spaghetti.

Over the years, we made so many memories there. When my grandma passed away three years ago, I found myself thinking of that place often — how special it was to us both. I couldn’t bring myself to go back, not without her. Merry Go Round wasn’t just a restaurant to her — it was a part of her story. She used to tell me how her own mother once worked there. Her loyalty to that little diner kept our family coming back for generations.

Today, I finally gathered the courage to see if the doors were still open — and to my joy, they were. With my children in hand, off we went. Walking through those doors felt like stepping back home. The familiar warmth met us immediately — smiling faces, genuine hospitality, and that same sense of belonging that I remembered so well. The carousel horse still stood proudly in the center of the diner, just as it had years ago.

We sat down, and our sweet server brought the boys applesauce and crackers. It made me smile remembering eating the same as a child. I showed the boys how to dip their crackers in the applesauce, explaining how it was the perfect little palate cleanser before the spaghetti. And when the spaghetti arrived, it looked exactly as I remembered. But the taste — the taste brought me right back to sitting beside my grandparents laughing around the table.

After all these years, they’ve stayed true to who they are — honoring their history. It’s rare to find that kind of authenticity anymore with great food to back it up.

To our wonderful server with mother-like hospitality, and to the kind man who greeted us with a smile and great conversation and a clear love for the restaurant — thank you. My heart is full again. Today, I felt my grandma with me — and through that meal, I got to have a little piece of her once more. I will make sure to not be a stranger again. THANK YOU.”

The food is consistently delicious. I love the smoked chicken, my husband loves the sausage! The menu offers something for everyone with a wide variety of tasty sides. And... the garlic bread is to die for!

I booked the event room .. explain Arrival time was 815-830.. so when guest started to arrive at exactly 815 the room was not ready at all .. every table was filled with dishes. I had approx 20 people five or take I told them on the phone that morning.. they finally got 2 sets of 2 tables that comfortably was set up in the main dining room as 4 to table they crammed 10 chairs to these tables.. when I asked for another set of tables to be cleaned our server wouldn’t speak to me but rolled her eyes so I went to talk to someone else.. when they approached her with me she told me that she was my server. And she still has not started cleaning tables instead she told me there were 20 chairs total at those tables.. I had to get upset and told her we were crammed and everyone unhappy and told her I wanted 2 more tables cleaned.. PLEASE!!! Finally she did with an attitude and goin so slow like it killed her.. she was prob 25yr old .. then she sat out on her phone and I had to get up and get her if we needed drinks or anything. “We live in Columbus Indiana and go to the local Culvers a few times a month but we were in Evansville Saturday night and as we were heading back to Columbus we hadn't eaten so we drove through this Culvers. Everything was pretty decent except there was an abundance of salt on my onion rings. Who puts salt on onion rings??? I had to scrape it off just to eat them. Is it just me or has fast food service gone in the toilet the last few years?”

Heath is hands down one of the best bartenders I've got to meet (I'm a bartender of 20 years). Definitely an asset to the company. Highly recommend and Definitely will return.
