“This is the one place in that we must visit every time we are in the area that has one! Been to several Schoop's locations, and they are all an amazing experience! The burgers and shakes are delicious! And the 50s diner esthetics make it feel like stepping into an easier time.

“The best fried shrimp ever. It's worth the drive, and the wait. The jumbo shrimp are good. I always buy the ex-large ones. The cheese & macaroni salad is delicious. Their mild sauce goes great with the shrimp. If you want a little spice, get the hot one and mix them up. I always get a pound of shrimp so I will have some now, and later.“

“Love this place, but the dining area is massively reduced (March 2025). Might be just getting worked on (?), not sure, but had family in from out of town that loves this place too and we couldn't fit our group so we had to go somewhere else!“

“We had a funeral luncheon at the House of Pizza. We chose family style with a few additional pizzas. The food was very tasty with good size portions. The service was fantastic. Our servers Melissa and the crew were very attentive to our group of about 50 people’s needs.“

“This has always been one of my favorite taco spots. They serve some of the most flavorful tacos and burritos I’ve ever had.

Upgrading to a dinner meal is only a dollar more and includes rice and beans, which is a great deal. Prices are very reasonable, especially for today, averaging around $13 per meal, and the portion sizes are very generous. The staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better.

Parking can be a bit challenging. There are about four spots in the front and six in the back, so it may take a few minutes during busy takeout times. Since the food is cooked in the dining area, you will likely leave smelling like grilled steak, so I would avoid wearing clothes that need dry cleaning.

“We always love the food from Cracker Barrel. This last visit was unfortunately not very good. We had to continuously ask for syrup for the pancakes and then when they brought them, they brought the wrong kind as we needed sugar-free by the time they did get it to us pancakes were a little bit better than lukewarm. The eggs were not cooked the way we had asked. The service was very slow and although all this sounds bad, we will of course be going back because most of the time it’s good service and good food. We were at the Cracker Barrel in Merrillville, Indiana.“

“Visiting the area and family wanted us to try their brews as one of their favorites. Tried a flight of 10 beers and favs were Tangerine Trackstar, Toxic Words, Lucifer in a haze, Immoveable King, Nuban overlord and the top one Here comes the reaper. We also had the Pretzel and queso for snacks. They were very good and fast. They also had ice tea which is not always available at breweries. I will say the art work gave me pause and some of the names being a Christian but I don't know the background to comment.“

“I've eaten her for a few years. The food is ALWAYS consistently good. Fresh toppings, perfectly seasoned meat , just an overall great experience as a customer. The employees greet you with a smile and are very courteous. I'll be returning as always.“

Vegetarian options: There is one salad - I would look elsewhere

Kid-friendliness: This is a bar. I don't think it is good for kids

Parking: A decent sized lot right next to the place

“The pros definitely outweigh the cons (which aren't actually cons at all) when dining at The Wheel Family Restaurant, which is open 24 hours a day.

Basically a 4 course meal for most of its menu options, the generous portions will leave the majority of us full, satisfied, and in need of a to-go box.

The atmosphere is typical of a diner style and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. Can't speak for all, but MY server was so great that I tipped her about 50%.

If I absolutely HAD to include a con, it would have to be my desire for my entree to have been more seasoned. But I guess that's what the salt and pepper shakers are there for, right?“
