“We arrived because a wedding we went to at ND had a big lag before dinner started, and we were really hungry. We had been to Moser's before, years ago, but were in the mood for German food. We were there close to 3 pm, but it was open and pretty busy. Large table at the back, and with the nice weather, several parties sitting outside as well. This meant we had a bit of a wait to order, or even get our menus, but I don't think they expected that crowd for a late lunch. The food (both hubby and I had the Alt Wienerschnitzel - $17 for lunch size) was excellent, and he thought the flavors with the Spaetzle and the red kraut were perfect. I'm Austrian, so I'm used to eating schnitzel, but I love it in styles my mother never makes, like this unique take with spinach and cheese, folded over. In total with a tip, we paid $43, with the schnitzel costing $34, $2.34 in tax, and then the $7+ tip. I felt bad for our waitress because she was obviously stressed having to do tables inside and out. I get it, since I work in the ER and you run your whole shift, too. But she (Samantha) was very friendly and got nothing in the order wrong. I love how they still have some of the ladies wear dirndls, and am glad the place is doing well. Better than the last time we were in. A+ food. There were families with little kids, couples, single guys, all kinds of people came in to eat there during our stay. We had to park on the alley to the side, but generally there is easier parking on the street. Nice outdoor seating. Nice clean bathroom in the candy/ice cream shop adjoining.“

“We were fortunate enough to be invited to the soft opening of Viola Café this week. While we have always loved the charm of this little gem in Three Oaks, the new owners have knocked it out of the park on every level. Service was friendly, attentive and had great suggestions for us. The décor was modern, yet not stark, a very nice soothing atmosphere, comfortable seating and tables spaced enough apart to enjoy your meal in your space. Prices were very good and the portions generous. Now the food – EVERYTHING we tasted was phenomenal. The dishes had the right amount of flavor, spice and uniqueness (due to the recipes of the owners’ family members). I’m not one who can eat too hot and the only dish I found too hot was the Nashville chicken po boy sandwich. While I couldn’t eat much of that, the bread they serve it on is amazing. We also had the unique and very tasty 3 bean salad, an AMAZING “old school” potato salad, the chicken/sausage gumbo, beignets you’d be hard pressed to think were not from Louisiana, fantastic collard greens and chicken salad. Everything was incredibly fresh and prepared perfectly. And that was just lunch. Had we arrived a bit earlier we could’ve tried breakfast, but we WERE able to get a smidge of a taste of the sausage gravy that goes on the biscuits. I don’t even eat that but was blown away by that taste. NEXT TIME BREAKFAST!“
