“It's one thing for a buisness to be courteous to paying customers. It's another when they treat the vendors (me) with that same care. I inspect3d their fire alarm system and David and Floyd were grounded and kind people. Personal and open about themselves, leaving me with a lasting impression.

“I've eaten my way around the world — mom-and-pop kitchens tucked down alleys, street stalls with lines out the door, and a handful of spots from the World's Best 50 list. I say that not to brag, but so you understand the weight behind what I'm about to tell you: dinner at Decade is one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.

Andy and his team have pulled off something I genuinely struggle to put into words. The genius here isn't rare truffles or gold leaf — it's the opposite. Decade takes homey, everyday ingredients, the kind you'd find in any grandmother's pantry, and transforms them into something you simply won't believe. Each plate builds on the last, flavors folding and unfolding in ways I didn't know food could do. Familiar comfort turned kaleidoscopic. Textures that caught me off guard, flavor combinations that made me stop mid-bite and just laugh. If you could have an acid trip on a dinner plate, this is it — and I mean that as the highest compliment possible. This is the most creative menu I have ever encountered, and I do not say that lightly.

But great food is only half the story. The care behind every course, the rhythm of the meal, the sense that this team genuinely loves what they do — it all came through. You feel looked after. You feel like you're sitting at the center of something special that's only just getting started.

And it is just getting started. I'm genuinely excited to watch the Decade restaurant group grow, because there's a vision here that deserves to reach far beyond Louisville. One personal hope: I understand the co-owner has roots in San Francisco. As someone who calls the Bay Area home, I would be first in line if they ever opened a spot out west. Please make that happen.

If I lived in Louisville, I'd be here constantly — no question. Decade isn't just a meal. It's an experience I'll be telling people about for years.

“My wife and I took in the tour with tastings and chocolate today. CJ was our tour guide and was fantastic! We received a great education about Brandy and C&K’s process. Their facility is beautiful and the staff was super friendly. I highly recommend the tour which is a great way to compare and contrast Brandy with all the bourbon distilleries in the region. Whiskies are arranged by family for easy identification. She described a "Black Manhattan" that sounded delicious, but I'll have to try that next time. We were the only ones on the outside patio the entire visit (just shy of 3 hours) and the inside dining room never got very busy, but you'd never guess by how terrible the service was. It took nearly 2 hours for (most of) our food to come out, and even then, several orders were wrong. Our drinks were rarely filled. Our waitress and other staff may have been stretched too thin, but did the manager ever come out to speak with us or try to make things right even once? nope! The food and beer prices are high and not worth the price. (Food arrived cool and tasted ok... not worth the prices.) No apologies were offered before we left after paying our expensive tabs. We will not be back. Don't waste your time! They clearly don't care about getting return customers.“

Downstairs is exactly what a great Louisville dive bar should be—laid back, unpretentious, and stocked with a really solid beer selection. The real star, though, is Tuesday night fried chicken, which might honestly be the best in Louisville. It’s crispy, flavorful, and absolutely worth planning your week around. And whatever you do, don’t skip the potato cakes—they’re the perfect side and honestly complete the whole meal.

Upstairs is a total contrast in the best way. The renovated private hangout space is quieter, well-appointed, and perfect if you want a more relaxed vibe. Between the dart boards, TVs, and comfortable setup, it’s an awesome place to watch whatever game you want, hang with friends, or spend a long night throwing darts without the chaos of the downstairs bar.

It’s rare to find a place that nails both the classic dive bar feel and a polished private hangout space, but Mellwood does it perfectly. Tuesday chicken alone is worth the trip. “

“Despite the other reviews, posting this out of my ordering experience (POV, ordered around 8, almost 8:30pm ish).

There's not much staff out since its not very active is my guess. Though once someone was finally able to come, I was treated very fairly. You go to the hostess stand to order actual food (10-20 a person depending on what you get, the pasta I ordered was actually 30 bucks) on a menu given. It's mostly burgers, fried food, pizza, pasta, that kind of thing. Kids menu too!

They unfortunately didn't have change for my 100 at the tether, but the hostess was very determined to be able to help and ran around to get it, bless her heart. Wish I got her name.

All in all, as someone who has worked in the food business, very great vibes that they're doing their best for having so little staff. Keep it up!

Kid-friendliness: Has a whole kids menu. Chicken tenders and kids cheese pizza off the top of my head. Also sodas to differ from the actual bar. Root beer, coke (I think), lemonade, etc.“

We also got the dragon fruit drink, the honey cruch iced coffee, and the salted caramel doughnuts. Drinks were very good. Food was good except my order was wrong they gave me the Cobb salad and when I told our waitress the issue and the mistake and all she said was that she could bring me some chicken for the salad. I declined because we were already done eating and I didnt see the point of the chicken when they were two completely different Salads and toppings. I don't like blue cheese which was all over my salad so I picked around it and ate what I could and my half sandwich. Other than that the experience was good. Just disappointed and not the happiest with the resolution.“
