I was immediately greeted by the owner (I didn't get his name) and sat outside in the back terrace. I met some ladies who were having the best time and getting ready for their visit for Mom's weekend at University of AR...so fun (fun place = fun visitors). Jackie the other owner, waited on us and I started out with a yummy Prosecco from France and then my friend and I split a bottle of Sauvingnon Blanc and shared the best appetizers with Gouda cheese, spicy pretzels, tuscan flatbread, hummus with basil and pesto...it was the perfect evening to be out and the ambiance, service and treats are second to NONE-I cannot wait to go back and am thinking about a client appreciation event there SOON!!! The owners, Dan and Carla, were so personable and spoke to us at our table, giving us the history and story of “The Castle”, and also giving us wine preferences, valuable life recommendations, and a celebratory rose in a wine carafe for our anniversary. Our waitress, Ashley, was great as well, and made our experience top notch. The experience here was one of our most memorable and is definitely a place we will be back to and will recommend to anyone we talk to. Give them a visit, you won't regret it!“

“Alllll the cheese. We got a mongers choice of 3 cheeses and it was the perfect appetizer. The plates are meant to split. The beets were amazing, as was the cheese croquets. The gin and tonic was just ok - I probably wouldn’t get it again. I did not love the delacotta squash. I would definitely come back here, though! Did was awesome“

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

“My husband and I popped by on a Saturday afternoon about 2:00 pm and it was quiet here until about 3:30. The bartender was very sweet and let me create my own craft cocktail using their amazing house blended tomorrow syrup. The books here are super cool and we proved several away just hanging out and drinking our cocktails. We’ve driven by so many times and this time it was a destination. Cool vibes, comfy seating for small groups. I noticed some laptop lap decks under a coffee table- nice amenity. This is yet another reason to love living in KC.“

“The food was incredible but that’s not the reason I’m taking time to leave a review. Our server Janzen ( hope I’m spelling that right) was simply the best server I’ve ever had. He made a point to get to know us on a more personal level and made recommendations for my celiacs disease. He gave us fantastic mocktails based off of our favorite fruits and even made sure we got to try the phenomenal espresso cake that was gluten free before we left.
