Definitely the top 5 BBQ in KC. You don't hear about it when people are talking about KC BBQ like Joe's, Q39 (way over rated), Jack Stack, LC's (my all time favorite), woodyard or many others. But when I have people in from out of town for business trips, I tell them to skip the other well known places and try RJs. Prices are great, the habanero BBQ sauce is best in the city. This is one of my favorite places around here. One of 3 within a couple miles on Triple D. The food is always good. Just don't expect to watch what you want on the tv because the owner thinks he comes first in that regard, not the patrons.
I really like their sides, moreso than the meat. I haven't tried enough of the meat yet. But I really like the onion rings and mac and cheese! Their southern bbq sauce is also really tasty with it, it is slightly sweet and has a good tangy flavor. The service is really nice, everyone was very helpful and friendly when I came to order to-go for the first time. They were patient while I looked at the menu and answered my questions.
