“I’ve had Gus’s at one other location before and was happy. This location keeps right up and served up delicious chicken, beans, and Mac and cheese. I also really love the fried okra here. The waitress was accommodating for my elderly grandfather who doesn’t move well and sat us near the entrance. My drink never got below half full. Loved it so much I bought a tshirt. Hopefully I can come back sometime soon with my whole family. This was way better than Joe’s bbq next door.“
“First time here and was surprised on the flavor. I had the chefs special that came with a rainbow roll, shrimp killer roll and chimichang. Chimichang was not for me but had good was not horrible. The Daikin roll was good and tasted fresh. Yellow tail hand roll is a must get. Red dragon flavor was a hit as well. My wife had the chicken katsu and the breading was light and delicious. The pork gyoza is a must get for a starter . So when we are back up I. The KC area this is a must come back to.“
“I picked up the Easter meal and I was prepared for a wait. I was pleasantly surprised when someone came to my vehicle shortly after arriving in a curbside spot. Both of the people that waited on me were very friendly and I barely had to wait for my food and I know they were busy since it was Easter. The food was delicious and hot too. Great job!“
“My husband couldn't decide between the gumbo and the venision chili. Our server recommended the gumbo and we are so glad she did! it is amazing, seriously some of the best we've ever had. It is so full of flavor yet not too spicy. The roux was phenomenal. The fried chicken was crispy, well seasoned, and juicy. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The only reason we are disappointed is that we live 4 hours away and won't be able to come back frequently.“
“Warmly greeted & sat. Waitress was very kind, brought hush puppies, *fresh* coleslaw, & white beans to the table. I informed the waitress I'm not a fan of catfish but want to try there's. I was NOT disappointed! I like a lot of seasoning and this was just a normal amount of traditional seasoning with a beautiful coating that didn't slide off. Catfish had a crispy outside w/ a wonderful flaky inside. Mashed potatoes came with gravy. Great texture, could get gravy on side but again a preference morning was wrong with it. Hushpuppies we're perfectly cooked & a lil dry inside - but they're hushpuppies. Beans were very surprisingly great with tons of flavor. Coleslaw was fresh and crunchy not watery. Waitress checked in once and I say for 15 minutes after I was done before she came back BUT I came an hour before closing - I'm not taking off for that she has closing duties. Apple cobbler made in house was "homey" & Delicious. Ice cream was run of the mill. “First visit yesterday and to start the hostess, light skin woman with long black braids was not friendly at all. Didn’t direct us where to go, no friendly greeting. Just a bad attitude but with another table she seemed to be a tad bit more friendly. Wasn’t the best way to start. Waiter was great and food was delicious which made a better experience. Just need to get that hostess some manners and better customer service skills.“

Chef Anita came out to greet us as well!!Wheelchair accessibility: I'm a Paraplegic and the location doesn't have a door opener for wheelchair accessibility. The building is city owned, and in the Jazz District, you'd think the city would make their real estate accessible! That part was a disappointment.“

“My first time trying Slim Chickens and I will be back. Got the wrap (partly because it looked on the small side with 2 tendrrs inside yet got 3 tenders) with mac n cheese (very cheesy, yum). Only disappointment was no okra like pictured in the menu.“
“We visit this restaurant fairly often and every time we have been there we have been treated to the most fantastic fried chicken, baked beans, and coleslaw by some of the most friendly and efficient people we have encountered in the restaurant business.
