About Los Mandiles FC

Los Mandiles FC is a newer restaurant in the Shawnee Heights area of Topeka across from Lake Shawnee. The restaurant looks to be family run. Guests are immediately seated and given chips and salsa, and the salsa is delicious. The cheese dip is also really good. The menu offers meals including the trompito platter, the mandiles platter, the alambre, the machetes with carnitas, and the Pozole. The alambre was sizzling. The blanco pozole was full of flavor and had white hominy in it. The green salsa has a vibrant kick, and the red salsa has a smoky paprika vibe. For drinks, the Cantarito is a margarita that isn't sticky sweet, with a super fresh, citrusy pop. The one with the little Don Julio bottle is so cute. At lunch, guests have a choice of mini taquitos or chips and salsa, and the mini taquitos were such a treat. The service was quick and lunch was delicious. The waitress was cheerful and helpful. Some side notes: the music was way too loud, there were light bulbs burnt out in the chandeliers, and the rice was very dry and the beans were bland. The price point between the front of the menu (~14.99) and the back of the menu (~19.99) could benefit from having some smaller, lower cost lunch items.

We were immediately seated and given chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious. We also ordered cheese dip, not choriqueso or queso fundido, cheese dip was also really good.

We ordered the trompito platter and the mandiles platter. I asked for the steak medium. It came out in one big hunk (I was expecting it sliced against the grain, and when I cut into it, it was absolutely brown all the way through. Definitely done and not medium). The pork on the other platter was also...read full review
My husband is Mexican, and he said that he finally found another truly delicious, authentic Mexican restaurant! It looks to be family run- hard work!! Go support their family and have a great meal. The dish in the photo is the alambre. It was sizzzzzling.
Excellent food/flavors. Large servings. Quickly becoming a favorite of our family. It honestly feels like it gets better each time.
