Restaurantji's Topeka guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“We came to Topeka for the weekend and our AirBnb host recommended Jorge’s. Food was fabulous and staff were friendly. Jorge was welcoming and served up a great atmosphere. Whether you are passing through, a local or in town for an event, make sure you stop by Jorge’s for a meal and a delicious margarita!“
“This is probably my favorite Mexican food place in all of NE Kansas , including Kansas City. Great chips and salsa, delicious tacos, and their style of refried beans (on the thinner side) is my favorite kind. I’ll go out of my way to pick up tacos from La Casita.“
“I called and placed an order for breakfast burritos. They were so big and so full. And they taste amazing. I can not believe I have lived her for 4 years before I discovered them. The best hidden Mexican breakfast in Topeka. Very friendly, nice, and helpful. Great Great Place for breakfast burritos.Kid-friendliness: They are very accommodating to the youngsters that come to eat.“
“Exquisite Mexican food. This place is so authentic that it evokes memories of eating at my Abuelita house. It's small and frequented by all the locals that know good Mexican food, so the Clientele will be speaking primarily Spanish, but english ordering is possible with a bit of menu pointing. The owner and staff are there running things, so your return visits will always be greeted with familiar smiling faces. Good prices round out this amazing hidden topeka dining experience.“
“The food is always great and the service is awesome! My favorites are the fajitas Hawaiian, banderas mexicana, and the el Cindi. Their queso is amazing and even better if you ask for the queso carnitas. Wash all that down with a frozen mango margarita and you will not be disappointed! They always decorate the place according to the season or holiday, changing the atmosphere just a bit. I must say they went over the top for Valentine's Day and it created a perfect date night. It is hands down our favorite place to eat in Topeka. Give it a try I'm sure you will agree.“
“Used to be neighbors with the staffThey're very nice their horchatas are not too sweet and their food is just absolute perfection they're based in multiple locations according to Google Maps but I usually go when they're at the DG by club car wash but besides all that they really have some of the best Mexican food I've tasted in a while You go guys!Parking: Since they are in other areas there's usually parkingKid-friendliness: Whenever I go on a walk I usually always get a S-M horchata because they're delicious“
“Been eating tamales for 70 years. We go to Puerto Vallarta Mexico for the last 18 years, one of the best tourist spots in the Americas and find the best Tamales there. Rosi's here makes tamales up there with the best of them. Pork, Poblano. Also she's the nicest lady “
“One the best Mexican restaurants in Kansas. Great salsa especially the Verde if you wanna spice it up. Some of my favorites include Chile Verde(only available when they have it on special) Ranchero Plater and Cartinas Plater, and Macho burrito which is smothered with queso and filled with choice of meat, rice, beans, cheese lettuce and tomatoes. Breakfast here is delicious as well the Chorizo burrito or Plate is the bees knees.“
“(CASH ONLY) Between the two of us, we ordered tacos al pastor, nachos con carne y queso (meat and cheese), and the burrito supreme. Everything was delicious!! The guy was really friendly too! It is a CASH ONLY spot. Don't forget that detail, but it is worth hitting the ATM.“
“5 stars very great food came here with the whole family we all left full and satisfied food is very delicious I’ll definitely be back they are very sweet and warm welcoming the place is clean the food is served hot and fresh food price is amazing would definitely recommend to anyone who like homemade Mexican “
“A good thing about living off Highway 24 is the easy access to fire authentic Mexican food from the Oakland area. Stopped in for their smoky grilled pollos asados. Such a simple dish in principle, yet you would be hard pressed to find anyone else doing it with such care. The deep, smoky exterior only comes with time and a commitment to doing it right.A modest building that I unfortunately overlooked for years. I won't make that mistake again. Looking forward to sampling the rest of their menu.“
“Picked eating here after reading review on NewsBreak app. Wasn't disappointed at all. Friendly and prompt service. Calm and clean atmosphere. True Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. Probably the best tamale I've ever had. Loved their guacamole. Only negative is can't find anywhere that serves true mole sauce here in Topeka. Will make this our number one place for further cravings of Mexican food.“
“Today I ordered a valve thirty dollars a food during the No no business hours on a saturday. I had placed to order on eat street. Just told me to pick up my order at two twenty nine. i got to the restaurant and the door to the restaurant is locked but I can see a guy at the bar a woman behind the counter, Only assume it works there. So I tried to call the figure out why the door locked.. So I call the lady. she was laughing at me while she's ignoring my phone calls. She finally came to the front. After I proceeded to knock on the glass. saying I can see you ignoring me. she then proceeded to lie and say the didn't receive any orders because there register was off... supposedly but I have a order number and a charge to my card. I had a buddy that is of Mexican decent who had stated this place was good, who showed up and also say this person letting in ppl of same race... I don't know if it was just my luck to run into this this trashy treatment of customers and customers services.“
“I had been wanting elote en vaso(corn in a cup) for a while. Owners have really been investing in this location. It was cool on a hot summer day. Lots of produce to pick from. Staff was great and can answer any questions you may have. Check them out.“
“Not only do they have a nice staff and an amazing Mexican beer selection. Their food is amazing and last time I was there I locked my keys in my car and they were nice enough to help me break into the car and get my keys. Can’t say enough good things about these people they’re amazing.“
“If you like good food, made fresh at a fair price, served by great staff? This the place to go. I recommend trying everything on the menu because you can't make a bad choice, it is all delicious!Parking: Lunch rush it can be difficult to get a spot on property but it's worth a short walk if need be.“
“We stop in from our out of town rode trip. We got here In-between Lunch and Dinner hours. We just order beef tamales and chicken tacos for a quick bite to eat. Both were very good. Chips and salsa were wonderful. We even got more salsa to go! We would stop by again if in the area. Staff was friendly and overall restaurant was very clean!“
“I found this place via Google. Am I ever glad I did. Ordered two of the Cemitas Poblanas (milanesa). This was awesome. I could not eat it all. Also ordered two of the strawberry lemonade - also totally awesome. Prices are good and for the amount of food you get is also good. I drove from Kansas City to Topeka just for this cemita. I would definitely recommend this place. Just remember, they arent open on Mondays“
“Tried this place for the first time today, I should've been eating here long ago. Best Mexican food I've had in a long time. Next level, absolutely top shelf cheese dip. You cannot find better chips and queso anywhere, nor a more friendly owner to make and serve it to you. Great food, better people. I'll be back“
“This one is in the old Carlos O'Kellys. It has a nice update. The food is great. I had my usual beef taco and a chicken enchilada with rice and beans. I have to say it was the best flavored beef I've ever had in a taco. The enchilada was the same. The chicken was very well flavored along with the rice and beans. They actually mixed in extra Mexican seasoning. Their salsa was fresh and good, a bit spicy for us, but that's just us. If I were to give anything a thumbs down, it would be the chips. Very thick and hard.“
“Nice little taco/ Mexican spot in Topeka. Was up for the weekend and had good reviews so went and had "The thing", some really good queso and couple other things. We definitely recommend and had claw machine and some quarter machines in it for son. Claw machine haf great claw and son one twice in a row. Good affordable meal and less then 5 bucks to get him stuff to make his night“
“I do not go here enough! The food is always delicious, the staff is always smiling and friendly, and it's always nice and clean inside. I've been coming here since high school, the 80's, and they always put a smile on my face.Cannot wait to go back!!“
“They have the best chicken mole in town, and we generally get our favorite wonderful waitress, Melanie. Their steak and potato burritos are yummy too. Their business hours have temporarily changed so you might want to call to make sure they're open.“
“I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Atmosphere....well, it's a good truck parked out front of a defunct restaurant with a gazebo. But....yeah, I'm not here for the atmosphere. Kind service. Tried the asada quesadilla and chorizo taco. Holy you-know-who.....the meats were slightly spicy, diced up small so no awkward "meat slippage" and came with grilled onions and jalapenos. So, so good. I can't wait to come back! Fyi, no rice or beans in case that's a show stopper. Yum!“
