“Didn’t try the food but I did get a drink at the bar. Played a lot of games, none were broken. Very low cost. Most games were 1-2 quarters. It was a great deal. We got $20 worth of tokens and struggled to spend them all. The place is huge.“
“We enjoyed the lunch chicken combo & chicken vindaloo with garlic naan. The food was excellent, the presentation was vibrantly colorful, the waitress was very kind in explaining the menu & the the robot waiter bringing our food out was a so fun.“
“This is one of the easiest reviews I will ever need to write. My friends from out of town wanted to go for Indian food. I have been to MANY of Louisville's best. I looked for the BEST of the Best and found Kathmandu rated the highest at the time of this review. Why not try a place I haven't been yet and write a review. We arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday night. It was a quaint place, clean and very comfortable with the inviting, colorful lights, yet not too bright. As soon as I stepped in the door, my senses started dancing. Besides being a small restaurant, the kitchen was close by. My wife and I and our friends from out of town found a booth and anticipated some good food, trusting the reviews to be valid. Ujina, was our server and host. She was very delightful and couldn't have done a better job making our visit rewarding. Ujina took our beverage order. We all asked for water. Ujina replied, with ice, or no ice? I like that. This is going to be a very detailed experience. She then took our food order which when I took my turn, added a couple appetizers, namely Onion Pakora's and Fried Mo Mo's. They were brought out first with some tasty sauces. We all enjoyed them very much. Our entrees arrived soon after the appetizers. I ordered Chicken Karahi, which is one of the BEST dishes I ever had ANY where. The chicken was quality chunks of goodness, the flavor unmatched and sauce thick enough to sop my garlic Naan in. We ALL ordered garlic Naan. Both couples ate one order and had another order left to take home along with left over entrees that came with basmati rice. My wife ordered Chicken Curry like she usually does and said this one was different than any other and Better. Our friends ordered Goat Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala which they were thrilled with. Another couple came in shortly after we arrived and sat on the opposite side of the restaurant. Other than that it was quiet. When we were ready to leave, I paid the bill, got a Military discount and spoke with the Owner/Chef, Purna. I can tell he cares about what he does and wants everything to be the BEST it can be. Kathmandu lives up to the highest reviews and IS the BEST Indian food in Louisville. The ambiance is very nice and the service is second to none. We never needed to look for Ujina for anything. She was there before we ever asked, filling our cups. I can't say enough about the texture and taste of the food. My entrée could only have been better with some MORE sauce, which I told Purna. He said next time ask for some more when ordered. The sauce is liquid gold. The veggies were perfect and the chicken was premium. I can't wait to go back and try something other offerings.“
“We had the best service with Kate! She gave us tips on what to order and ahead of time was dead on. We started with a cocktail and had a glass of wine with dinner. We split the spicy chicken empanadas, delicious, however, we did not detect the spice. We split the green chili Caesar. Honestly, the best Caesar in town. I do t see how they get it so cold and crisp, it's amazing! We then each had a ceviche. The baby shrimp, which were much bigger than anticipated, such wonderful flavor! My daughter had the crab, the server suggested mixing it right away to get the sauce mixed in. Very good! It did need more liquid. We simply poured the extra shrimp sauce in the crab, it was superb after that. The tomato on the shrimp just gives it more moisture and such a good flavor! We can't wait to go back!“
“I've been there several times. Including takeout. It has excellent food with an excellent wait staff. This is a family owned business and it shows. We love those environments. The food was Italian not too garlicky. A good strong tomato flavor but with good seasoning, so as not to be overwhelming, we are considering this for my wife's birthday. It's that good of a choice.“
“I love their rotating Cider selection, and I tend to get food from the pizza place next door or a snack from the cat cafe nearby and bring it over! Plenty of seating, the bartenders are really nice, and they have trivia on Wednesday! Dog and child friendly too, and they have some board games to borrow and play. Would definitely recommend going by and checking it out ☺️“
“Great place to have a few beers and listen to some great bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Kevin and Kim, the owners, are awesome! Check out BIKE NIGHT Wednesdays when it's warmer. it's like Kevin opened a Harley dealership for the night! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere with a country feel.“
“Fun local diner. Delicious food, great service and fun atmosphere. We came for lunch and hung out with the "regulars"! You can tell this is a popular lunch spot and easy to see why! The parking will all be in the timing as it is a little small for such a popular spot. You order at the bar and it is a cash only venue. No worries as they have an ATM machine on site.“
“I really enjoyed this cocktail lounge right in the heart of the Highlands on Bardstown Road. Drinks were fairly priced, well-crafted and the crowd was relaxed and pleasant. I like that they use non-mainstream brands for their drinks. Good atmosphere, lively & fun crowd, will definitely come back.“
“One of, if not the best bourbon bar in the country. It's a museum that you can drink with some of the best bartenders in the business. The food menu is spot on. The cocktails are all superb and the knowledge of the staff tops this place off.You can go to this incredible venue to just stare at the collection... or spend a bit and actually try it.I cant even remember all the drinks I've had here... but I've never had a bad experience. This is a must go to spot if you're in the Louisville area... or a bourbon aficionado.“
“We had a group of 9, so I called and reserved a table. I’m glad we did, because the restaurant was fairly busy even on a Thursday. Our server was amazing and so attentive. She made sure we always had full drinks, our order was perfectly accurate, and she was so nice as well. According to the receipt, her name is Carolina. The food was amazing (as always!). We also loved the live music. This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat when we are in Louisville. Thank you for another great dinner!“
“A true dive bar, people and staff are always friendly, very laid back atmosphere.Cannot speak to the food, never eaten here. They have bands playing often, sometimes for free, sometimes with a cover, but always a fun time.If you're a dude, make sure you create your chocolate frosty at home before you visit“
“A local watering hole. A staple. Bambi is a legend and you can't say you've been to the Highlands unless you've been to Bambi for a drink or burger or better yet the "Bambi Walk". Always good service and a fun crowd! Do yourself a favor and make a trip, and liven up any afternoon or evening!“
“We are in town for hockey this weekend and needed a place to grab an appetizer or two for lunch. Found Craft House Pizza on my maps app and headed over. We ordered the baked meatballs and bacon cheese fries. Oh so good! The marinara sauce was fabulous and the meatballs moist and seasoned well! The bacon cheese fries were delicious with their melted mozzarella and ranch for dipping. Our waitress super nice and helpful. Everything was so good, we went back for dinner. Dinner was a bacon cheeseburger pizza and we added their spicy pickles to it and asked for marinara as the base in stead of pizza sauce. NO REGRETS! It was the best pizza we've had in a long while! Ordered an old fashioned and their local beer that was similar to a Blue Moon. Both were great. Evening hours were busy but not packed. Great music, bar type atmosphere. Another great waitress that was super fun and friendly and helpful. Highly recommend eating here if you're in town! Next time we are here, we WILL come back! Forgot to take pictures, just trust everything looked as good as it tasted!“
“I'm going to admit that I did not even know that this place existed until we stumbled upon it after a night out to eat. We wanted to grab another drink somewhere so we just randomly walked in a direction and this place looked interesting so we wanted to try it out! I love the atmosphere of dive bars and they tend to have nicer people there so I was excited to try it!When you walk in, there is a wall of screens on the left all filled with people playing various video games. We went up to the bar, and the bartender was welcoming and friendly and got us our drinks right away. There wasn't a ton of places to sit in the main bar, but I also didn't venture anywhere else in the bar to see if there was additional seating anywhere. But either way, we hopped on a screen to play some video games so we were perfectly content without a table. We had so much fun here! And after reading some other reviews, I realize that there was a whole other floor that we didn't even know about! I would've loved to play some other games, so I will definitely make it a point to get up there next time.“
“Had a wonderful time on St. Patrick's Day . Enjoyed the delicious food and drinks. Our server, Trustun, allowed our group to sit and enjoy ourselves for several hours , while still being very attentive, fun to banter with and making us feel special.Parking: Plenty of parking in the lot behind the restaurant as well as a rear entrance. Very convenient.“
“Absolutely amazing place the service was awesome ? we were in town for louder than life music festival and need a place to get some good food and a cold drink late at night the food is Absolutely fire ? we had half the menu and everything was very good I highly recommend this place if I lived closer this would be our local hang out love this place they have volleyball ? also indoor and outdoor“
“They were okay with bringing in our own food. The band didn't start until 9PM, but once everything got rolling, it was lively and very entertaining. Lots of people dancing and nobody got too rowdy. 6 pool tables rounded out the fun, and drinks were extremely reasonable.“
“this little bar is just what I needed after a long start to my week. the regulars are friendly. the staff is top notch. 10 beers on Tap, and a wide variety of whiskeys and bourbon. along with a great kitchen menu. with daily specials on both. there is live entertainment, and KaraOke on Wednesdays. if you haven't been to this hikes point jem. you just ain't living right. come on out, they'd love to see you“
“We are new transplants to Louisville from Nashville. While Nashville is submerged with music you will not find many Karaoke Bars. We’ve been to several Karaoke Bars here in Jefferson County, some you may say mediocre and a handful of stellar ones. Saturday Night, date night with the hubby and we wanted to explore other Karaoke bars in the area. Our GPS took us to Smyrna Inn with Karaoke Jockey Hippie Chick. The establishment is a quaint circa 1930’s house with multi-split level floors, bar area in the main floor, pool table in the lower floor, upper deck additional tables and chairs. The karaoke area is on the upper deck overlooking the bar area. It is quite a set up. Sherry, the bartender is so personable and very attentive. It was said that a ghost or ghosts visits the establishment quite often. ? What can I say about Hippie Chick, she made the rotation seamless and effortless. She’s a pro without a doubt. There were a few singers, the songs never stopped. She made everyone felt welcome and we enjoyed it very much. She is a KJ to follow! We will definitely be back! Thank you for an enjoyable evening!“
“Wonderful spot. I didn't even realize it was the old Diamond's. Great food at really good prices. Lot's of pool tables and a new Golden Tee machine. Bigger inside than it looks. Very clean and had excellent service. Really neat to see the local Ole Miss Hotty Toddy group there for the bowl game :)“
“So fun here. The other customers are very nice and are pretty good about watching their own dogs. There is also staff to watch the dogs and make sure everyone is safe. They hold lots of fun events too. I love bringing my dog at least once or twice a week!“
“Best place I have been to drink and socialize in years. They have karaoke nightly and the bartenders are amazing. One very memorable bartender was Phil. He was a great bartender as he had everyone laughing and making jokes to keep everyone entertained. He made sure that no one was without a drink and made sure everything was on point. I've never had a bartender like him and he will definitely be the reason I return to the establishment.“
“A cozy bar with a unique vibe. My favorite time to go is on the weekend. There is always a crowd for karaoke, and it's always a blast! No food is served other than snacks, but this bar is surrounded by lots of tasty places to grab a good bite. Great place to grab a beer and hang out with the locals.Parking: It can, at times, be difficult to find a parking spot in front of the bar on the weekends-but there are other spaces available on the street and nearby“
“A little gem of a brewery tucked away and often overlooked. For the size of the brewery they have quite an accomplished birth of beer selection and rotation; something for everyone here. My fav was Big Hand imp stout.Gabe was very friendly and knowledgeable about the brews. Nice to chat with.I look forward to visiting again!!“
“My wife told me about Noche and we have been trying to make time to go there for months. The wait was well worth it! We had patio seating. The weather was ideal and the seating was comfortable. The brisket was delicious and the plantains were out-of-this-world good. Our server, Jeremy was OUTSTANDING. He made sure we were taken care of, and was very pleasant. Noche will definitely get a return trip from us!“
“Chill Gene from the Kentucky State Capitol at Frankfort recommended this place to me - he specifically recommended the fish sandwich. I am very well traveled and this is the best fish sandwich I have had. Nice local place with classic Southern hospitality. I love Kentucky!!!!“
“I had the chicken dinner, with potatoes, dressing, and roasted carrots. It was a wonderful dinner. Our server was helpful and personable. We took some friends with us that had never been there. He had corned beef and cabbage, and it, too, was delish! They want to go back. Good food, good service.“
“Joe's Older Than Dirt offers more than just a lively bar scene—it's a hub of good vibes and great times! Live bands set the stage for unforgettable nights, while Alcohol Tasters' Days showcase the finest spirits from local distilleries. Hungry? The kitchen at Joe's serves up mouthwatering dishes with portions that are nothing short of huge. And yes, for those wondering, Joe's has a website where you can check out upcoming events, menu details, and more. It's the perfect place to get a taste of what makes Joe's so special before even stepping foot on the dirt. The folks at Joe's make sure everyone feels right at home!“
“Stopped here after a movie with some friends. It was an hour before closing so I expected worse but it wasn’t too bad. I took a risk with a 6 oz. sirloin (wasn’t entirely sure how good the steaks would be here since I’d never had a Chili’s steak) and it was actually pretty delicious. However this looked like the smallest 6 oz. sirloin I’d ever received in the many times I’ve ordered steak from other places in the past. I didn’t complain though and even tipped 22% at the end of my transaction. I would eat there again, except the dip trio I ordered didn’t leave me craving more. As a regular at authentic Mexican restaurants, this wasn’t the best queso I’ve ever had so would not recommend that. You can find much better alternatives elsewhere, so unless you’re not in a position to wait I’d pass the queso up. The guac I was served looked and even tasted good but taste wise, I’ve made it so much in the past that I’m a bit biased. I like mine better. This will get you by in a scrape though. It’s some of the better Tex-Mex guac I’ve tried. All in all my experience was positive.“
“I really like this place. Staff and patrons very welcoming of kids. But parents there are a few issues you need to know about….1. Bring food. Pizza, McDs, Chick-Fil-A. The food truck on day we went didn’t have much my kid would eat and was pricey.2. Bring some sand toys and meet a friend there to keep kid entertained. Mine had more fun when another kid his age showed up.3. Your kid will think the bourbon slushies are an icee. Lol. So maybe grab one before you come.4. They don’t always have ice cream so don’t mention it.5. The sand. Mine wanted to go play on the court (which is always in use) with its beautiful, fluffy sand. There isn’t necessarily a kid sand area (that would be awesome!). Kids play on the side but this day it was very compacted. A woman there said it wasn’t always like this.6. Watch out for balls and people on court cuss. I don’t care but some might.Pros: contained place to tire out your kid while you have a beer and talk to other adults. We will be back.“
“Long ago it felt like we came to Za's 2x/month and this continued for several years until we burned out. I'm sorry Za's, we'll be back soon! We came on a Saturday afternoon and our party of 8 easily got a table. Exactly how we remember, Za's lighting was dim and the windows were open. It was a bit warmer and we all felt a little flushed by the end of the meal. More air flow was needed. The breadsticks were amazing! A large amount, each one big, nicely seasoned and the marinara was flavorful. The cheese sticks were okay but didn't get me as excited. We had three pizzas amongst us and everyone chose a pick your own for toppings. Be warned that asking to split toppings on half the pizza is a charge for each one, despite using less. Service was friendly and fast. Our tickets got a bit jumbled and were fixed. Street parking. Many meters must be paid on the main strip, excluding Sundays.“
“If you are into dive bars with the locals then Marma Dukes is the place for you. They have the cheapest drinks in town and the atmosphere is always a blast. Saturdays there is karaoke and it is more fun than you can imagine. This bar is a true to live CHEERS where the locals know everyone's name and it is a very homely place to chill have drinks, play pool, and even on Saturdays let loose your best impressions of famous musicians.“
“Pretty cool place, with a good atmosphere. We went on a Saturday and they had good cheap drinks and a performance by a guy covering some songs. The bartender on staff was cool! They have pool tables and Pac-Man. It's pretty cold in there. Also they only have one women's bathroom so there was a wait to use it most of the night.“
