Probably the best chilli I’ve had in any place in Louisville drove all the way from the other side of town and was not disappointed 10/10 food was amazing and so was the staff!
Reading about Checks we had expected a good lunch and a cold beer. This was our first visit to Checks. Upon arriving we looked for a menu, we were informed by an unfriendly statement “read the white board for today’s special. read the above board for everyday menu, and read it fast is changes to next page quickly”, by the rude person behind the bar. The staff is amazing! Tanya is the kindest and most efficient bartender I have ever met. Not to take away from the other staff! The other bartenders, cooks, servers and support staff are awesome as well! The food is just as great as I remember from the 1970's, 80's and 90's! I LOVE to visit Check's every time I come back home!

Check's is a neighborhood bar and grill that has been a long-standing local spot for over 15 years. The no frills atmosphere is great for families and offers a warm welcome. The food is delicious, and the best chili in Louisville is a must-try. The chili can be had with or without spaghetti, cheese, and onions. It is really good chili, not too spicy, but perfect for many. Other menu items include good fish, brats, cheeseburgers, fries, grilled cheese, chicken livers, and a superb bean soup. The fish sandwich is famous, and the roast beef is old school sliced roast beef. Portions are generous. Check's is counter service; walk up to the bar, place an order, and find a seat. The chili is served from behind the bar, but everything else is brought out to the table. Parking is a challenge, with a small lot in the rear, but there is plenty of parking on adjacent streets. It is a good place to get a hardy meal on a cool autumn or cold winter day.
