“Still the best value and most nutritious meal you can get in Baton Rouge for an affordable price.Okay, so I'm old. When I was a teenager and young adult there were several cafeterias successfully operating in the greater New Orleans area where I lived at the time. A&G cafeteria and Piccadilly or the two primary ones that come to mind but I know there were others as well in some parts of the city.As someone who likes to eat out without spending too much money, and often dining alone, I crave a balanced meal with REAL vegetables (no in my opinion potatoes do not count as they are mostly carbs and starch)... I really enjoy a cafeteria setup where you have options and know you can always count on them having several choices of healthy vegetables not drowning in sauce or butter. If you decide to try the Piccadilly cafeteria based on this review keep in mind timing is everything. Although they are open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 7 days a week excluding legal holidays, the best time to go for the freshest options on a steam line is around lunch time or dinner time. Like any other restaurant they want to minimize food waste, and although the types of items they serve keep fairly well on a steam line for a while... It's not as appetizing when you're viewing the line to choose your selection if the food item has been there for over an hour.Although the prices have gone up at the Piccadilly, so have prices everywhere else and the Piccadilly is still by far the best value for the money considering all that you get.I usually go to the Piccadilly cafeteria on Sherwood Forest as that is the one closest to me, but I'll occasionally stop at the one on Florida Boulevard too. Both restaurants are VERY dated in decor and could definitely use a renovation. However, the staff do a very good job keeping the facilities clean which is no easy feat when furniture and carpet are old.The wait staff are very attentive. As with most wait staff they are dependent on giving good service in order to get tips and make a living wage. I really appreciate the waitresses checking in a couple of times during the meal just in case I'd forgotten to ask for something. They do it in a friendly and non-intrusive way not two interrupt your meal but still make sure that you're not lacking for a sauce, or cup of coffee to finish your meal. It's sad to me that every time I go to the Piccadilly I almost always see people that are 50 plus years old. It's rare to see anyone in their 20s or 30s eating there. I think the younger generation could take a page from our old book and appreciate a well-balanced home cook styled meal without having to depend on all the razzle dazzle decor that newer restaurants offer for higher prices. It's not uncommon for me to go there to dine in for lunch or dinner, and because the food is filling and nutritious I often take nearly half of it home to eat the following day. That stretches my dollars even more.Yes, it's true that Piccadilly does not serve any alcohol. So I get that for some patrons seeking a place to eat, especially in the evening that's a mark against them since many younger patrons would like a beer or glass of wine or cocktail with their meal. But, a good well balanced meal for a fair price without an alcoholic a drink accompanying could be considered by the young crowd as a healthy alternative as well.“

“Now let me start by saying today May 17, 2023 I went to Piccadilly on Essen Lane, reason I was in that area, so I went in floors clean, overall place was well kept. But, y'all you know when you have a taste for that one thing you like from any Piccadilly, well mines was Carrot Souffle, going down the line just looking, I ask the server do they have more Carrot Souffle coming out, she showed me a small bowl that they serve your food in, I then asked her, when will you have some ready, show told me in the most loudest tone, in about two hours. I told her I'll wait and I waited myself out of the building into my car and drove to the location on Plank Road, had a much better experience and the servers, cook, cashier was super nice and kind and friendly and their place was even cleaner than Essen Lane. So, pick your Piccadilly, me I choose Plank Road location over them all. That's who my five stars are for, NOT the Essen lane location, they get negative stars if that's possible.Smooches my friends.“

“No bells & whistles just go in & dine on home cooked food, or take out. Service staff on the line are polite. Service staff on the floor waiting tables are very busy and work hard & efficiently to take care of items you need or forgot. Tables & booths. Large restrooms.Vegetarian options: I usually get the 4-veggie plate with Galicia bread. Lots of salad & vegetable choices.Dietary restrictions: Labels are present on glass in front of food, but servers are knowledgeable if asked.Parking: Drive up area to leave guests for easy mobility to entry, several handicapped parking spots at front. Front & side parking.Kid-friendliness: They have booster seats & high chairs if needed. Servers help parents take little kids' trays to the table.Wheelchair accessibility: Non curb entry, large sliding doors or large entry with handled doors. Wide walkway area into line. “I have been eating at Piccadilly since I was a child and this chopped steak has had me on lock for at least 25 years. It's literally the only thing I eat no matter which Piccadilly location I may be visiting. This chopped steak slaps. I visited this location for lunch last week and I cleaned my plate. I got the large chopped steak meal, the rice was counted as a side. I had to choose another but ended up buying an extra side anyways. If your grown get some onions because I forgot. Of course to be sure to get extra gravy if your eating it with rice. Carrot soufflé has ALWAYS been my go to side and it tasted amazing. I added the squash and zucchini and as the extra side and it was good good! I love great tasting vegetables and this hit it on the nail. The food was fresh, I enjoyed my lunch that day. The total was about 16$ with my extra side and I would pay for that every time cause it was just that good. Don't forget you to grab you some ketchup if your like me and I could see A1 being good on this even though I haven't tried. You also have a choice of a roll or cornbread. The rolls are pretty good in my opinion. I could imagine with butter and honey it would be fantastic. The To go staff here was nice, smiling, and happy. They accept tap and pay which was great because I forgot my card and still was able to eat. Of course food here isn't going to be seasoned down bad but it's far from bland. If you need extra those salt and pepper packets provided should do the trick.“
