30 Best Sushi Bars near Chalmette

“So today I brought my family to UMI Hibachi and sushi in Chalmette to celebrate the twins birthday. We was given the lunch menu and ordered of the the lunch menu. I saw the the kids meal was $9.99 and the Lunch meal was $10.50. I specifically ask the young man what was the 50 cent difference between the kids lunch meal and the regular lunch meal . He told me that the lunch meal came with noodles. So I told him we’ll just give my boys a regular lunch meal. As he started to bring out the salad and soup I notice he only brought out one set for one of my boys. I told him I want the lunch meal for all of them. So he came back with more 2 sets of salad and soup. After we finish eating I get my bill and he charge us for the dinner combination Vs the lunch meal. I told him that not what I ordered. The dinner combination meals are $26.99 each . He said that we received dinner combinations portions so that what I have to paid for. First, I don’t have a problem with paying but that not what I ordered. I ask to speak with the manager . The manager send the waiter back and told him to tell us that there’s no negotiation it’s either we pay are else . So I’m the wrong individual to threaten like that. I send him back to his manger to tell her I’m not paying for nothing I didn’t ordered. The manager then came out and said the owner said that either we pay the dinner combination price or they was going to call the police . Now I feel very disrespected because you’re trying to make me pay for something I didn’t ordered, you’re also not trying to negotiate. So I told them to call the cop because the cop don’t scare me. The cop came and heard both side of the story . Ì eventually paid for what I originally ordered but the owner also ban me from the establishment. I’m writing this because this restaurant treated me and my family very unfairly. We went in there to celebrate the twins birthday because that what they wanted . If this was a black business ppl would blast them all over the internet. Please don’t go to to this business. Especially if you’re black… The owner wasn’t there but I know he knew I was black and while he was on the phone he kept telling the cop that I know he don’t want to paid . The cop kept telling him the guy has no problem with paying but only what he ordered. He ban me because they was wrong lol .. I already had it in my mind that I’ll never go back anyways .. Once again THANK YOU UMI Hibachi and sushi in Chalmette for messing up my sons birthday celebration…“

“The food is good and hot it be fresh I just don’t like this new thing where they closed right now but on here it be saying open they should let us customers know when they will be closing and when they will be opening back up because right now they have a sign saying temporary close and I have seen more then 10 people go there thinking they open but besides that the food is amazing and fresh and the waiters are very respectful and it’s very quiet and peaceful I don’t mind spending my money there and imma continue to spend my money there I love it“

“Wasabi is a place where my and my family eat for 22 years , my kids grow up eating in there , last time I went alone I order Nabeaky Udon ( seafood soup that use to come in a nice ceramic crock with boil egg and a tempura shrimp , I only order it because was my ex wife favor items )

And then I change my entree deepi g how I feel, like chix teriyaki, tempura meal / soba noodle with chicken …..
That night I hate at the bar since kids away in collage .. I order the seafood soup mentioned above .. it came out in a ceramic bowl , and not in the crock pot, half of the amount , no shrimp tempura but boil shrimp in it .. the flavor was terrible , I stated to the Owener lady “ this is different , not good ..” she stated well everything cost more now …
How that is the costumer for 22 years fault ?
If you can’t produce any longer take it off the menu , at list replace the meal with something else if I did not like it , take off the bill , after spending a bunch of money a would have expected something .. nothing full bill , tip ,
As an executive chef my self for 30 plus years I would have handle it completely different ..
The food is great , but things like that can make a decades Cistumer dint come back

Had fried rice bowl which did have a lot of fried egg in it, very tasty. also had the Pork Tonkotsu bowl for $14 and it was delicious. this place is a hidden gem in old Gretna and close to Westbank Expy.
