The Old Point Bar Reviews
the new ownership has systematically banned most of the regulars that have hung there for years in lieu of the tourists and whatever. I pass a half dozen bars on the way there every day so guess what.
It's the Algiers Point "Cheers"! Just a wonderful place "where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came!". ( And if you're new here, they will make you feel welcomed and they will " know your name" before you leave!)
Amazing drink prices and a fabulous selection of beers on tap! Not to mention, the live music is awesome!!!! 👏
Classic NOLA music venue
No-frills corner bar with sidewalk seats is an old-timey spot for a beer & live music.

The Old Point Bar is a popular and laid-back spot located in Algiers Point, known for its friendly atmosphere and great live music. Visitors often describe it as a "Cheers" where everyone is welcomed and made to feel at home, whether they are regulars or newcomers. The bar offers an impressive selection of beers on tap and exceptional alcohol pours, making it a favorite for those seeking good drinks at amazing prices. The staff, particularly the bartenders, are praised for their friendliness and attentive service, although some mention that initial visits can be a bit cold or unwelcoming. Despite this, repeat visitors find the environment warm and inviting, with many enjoying the local residents and lively conversations.
The Old Point Bar also boasts a fantastic music venue, hosting bands like River Rock, with a small cover charge of $5, providing excellent entertainment for the price. While it is a "divey" but clean place without food service, visitors can easily get pizza delivered or bring their own food. The bar’s location is accessible, with parking just as easy and a nearby pedestrian ferry from New Orleans that makes reaching the bar convenient and scenic. Overall, The Old Point Bar is praised for its charm, good prices, and the lively, friendly vibe that makes it a must-visit spot for both locals and travelers alike.
