Restaurantji's Pearl River guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“Background - this was a so-so Mexican restaurant until last October. It has been reincarnated as a new Mexican place but it is quite different from before. And while this is primarily a Mexican restaurant, it is not JUST a Mexican restaurant. Daily specials were pork chops, hamburger steak, and Caribbean chicken on the day I went. They serve breakfast all day, which I think is awesome. No huevos rancheros or migas on the menu, but they had a nice scrambled egg dish called huevos ala Mexicana that was very nice. We tried the street corn appetizer and it was only OK. It seemed like the corncobs were boiled then seasoned rather than being roasted. The flavors were there but the execution was off. My wife liked the tamale plate she got. She is not a fan of salsa verde but she really enjoyed it this time. Of course there are the obligatory margaritas - frozen and rocks - with an array of fruity flavors available. My wife had a blackberry frozen for $5 on a lunchtime drink special. We talked to the owner (Justine?) for a while and she was very excited about the new restaurant. Sauces/salsas all made in house, all seafood is locally sourced and not frozen, beans are all fresh made and not canned, etc. Big plans for the future - steaks are coming, also fresh fish, also more margarita flavors. She answered all our questions and was genuinely glad to have us there. Highly recommended. Go give them a shot!“
“Feb 9, 2024…..after a long @$$ Friday at work in MS and a two hour drive home the ol’lady said she wanted Taco Bell….it was obvious right from the start that the employees scheduled tonight we’re having fun on the job…. I even had to say “Who Dat Say Dey’gonna Beat Dem Saints” through the drive through speaker…..and it just happened to be the freshest and tastiest Taco Bell we EVER ate. Good conversation at the window as well about good vibes at work resulting in high productivity and top notch goods! Coincidence??? I don’t think not….I KNOW not. I hope that corporate or the private franchise owners see this REVIEW and give praise to whoever was on schedule tonight and their manager. This is how you succeed! Big props to the Taco Bell team in Pearl River, LA tonight!! Y’all can work for me anytime! Stay up!!!!“
“Very convenient in my opinion. My order was taken immediately and the food was prepared quite quick with unbelievable flavor. I think I found my go to spot for my wife’s lunch break!Dietary restrictions: If you are allergic to any thing in the dish simply saying so can still get you your meal with out eating things your not supposed to.“
“Food was amazing! I tried it for the first time on Thursday for lunch, ended up back for dinner with the family, and then ended up back on Friday.Everything is hot and fresh, and you will not regret it. I will be honest, though, I did not like the Tamale. But the plates, empanadas, quesadillas, and tacos are ?!“
“The food is always great. I really like the music and atmosphere. This is our go-to restaurant when we want Mexican food. The staff is prompt and pleasant . We have been regulars at the Pontchartrain location since it opened. And I have never been disappointed.“
“Best fare in Slidell by far, freaking love this place, have the carne asada plate over plantains, it’s perfection. Servers are very friendly and attentive, if you haven’t eaten here yet, do yourself the favor. Take some pupusas home with you, they’re freaking delicious!“
“The service was very good . The staff is always on time and attentive. I had chicken tacos . They were good. I do wish they did more spicy version of guacamole. Part of my family from West Texas, and I loved the way they made it. (Alittie diff.)I'm always looking. But I'll ask for hot sauce and lime with dice tomatoes so it works. I do enjoy this restaurant the Steak fajitas and rice is great..Kid-friendliness: They're always so sweet when I take my granddaughter . She loves the grilled chicken without the taco.Parking: Nice, off -street and level parking area with easy access to the main entrance.“
“The Food is Excellent some of the Best I've had.Vegetarian options: It's Awesome!Dietary restrictions: You just have to look @ the menu it's all postedParking: One extra large parking lot. They stay packed with customers but still plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: The waiters & waitresses are the best. The way they are I always want to leave them a huge tip because they are worth it.Wheelchair accessibility: They have a wheelchair ramp & has plenty room to get in.“
“Absolutely amazing, burritos, tacos and rice and beans. Haven’t found Mexican this good since el paso. Oh, and I’m not hyping this up as some previous disgruntled people reviewed. I live 3 hours away and make sure to make this a weekly stop on way back from Nola for work. Almost forgot to mention they are very consistent! The food is exactly as I expect it every visit.“
“Great tasty food at affordable prices. Restaurant & bathroom were very clean and smells good. I did mention to manager to consider adding in more salad or pico de gallo type ingredients to some of their dishes. All good, definitely recommend!?“
“This place is a vibe. The service is 10/10 and so is the food. We didn’t know what we wanted to eat and stumbled upon Habaneros. It was a Sunday so we were looking for brunch and pulled over here. The chicken and waffles was by far the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the red snapper tacos, they were seasoned so perfectly and melt in your mouth. I would 100% go here again“
“Vegetarian options: You can have your food as vegetarian.Parking: If it's during the day before people get off work, cracking is fine. Anything after 4 or 5 PM it gets difficult and you may have to walk a little distance from the restaurantKid-friendliness: There is a dining section inside and outside. It's fine for children.Wheelchair accessibility: There are 2 entrances and both have roughly 3 steps to get into the building.“
“The margaritas are very large and have a generous amount of alcohol at a reasonable price. The main entrees are huge, My wife and I easily split one and still had leftovers. The only reason for not giving 5 stars on the atmosphere is that tables are quite close and it is very loud.Parking: Large lot with lots of spacesWheelchair accessibility: Easy access for a wheelchair“
“Tucked away behind the Aspen Dental is a Mexican restraunt with great service. Bright and cheery atmosphere. We only had time for a quick bite so ordered the sampler appetizer. We will definitely stop again when we have more time. Reasonable prices.“
“A pretty normal Mexican food experience, the chimichanga was okay and the cheese sauce was good, as was the rice and guacamole. I wasn't a fan of the salsa though. I recommend eating there at least once to see if it's your thing. Every Mexican food place is going to be a little different.“
“6 of us and ordering 5 different dishes. All the food was delicious. The temperature of the food that was supposed to be hot was actually hot. ?All the servers, food preppers, and management were available and very friendly. It was a very good experience and we'll definitely be returning often..Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy access and plenty of room.“
“Monday's Two 4/1 Margarita's, $7.99. unless it's flavored, then it's $10.99 and the menu as far I was aware doesn't tell, and nobody else told me either. No worries though, because the food is good the service is good, dessert is good and you leave very happy. We had the fajita salad & chicken enchiladas, and shared the Bavarian Cream filled churros and we couldn't believe that Pearl River has something that has the potential to stay a while. It really was just thouroughly enjoyed.“
