we enjoyed our meal here. a very generous piece of steak--which unfortunately had to be sent back initially (i had specifically asked for "very rare," and what i got was medium-to-well. i almost never send back food, but gray meat is not something i want to eat). nevertheless, the second try came back rare(ish), and the salad was quite good. The food was fresh and very tasty. The service was beyond reproach. Jacob‘s pillow is a stunning backdrop for lunch.

The Pillow Cafe offers a varied dining experience, with both hits and misses. While the chicken sandwich was described as fine, the hot sandwich served on refrigerated cold ciabatta was underwhelming. The service is personable, often with a waiter+chef working together, though sometimes the server tends to disappear and does not check in regularly.
The cafe has an elegant flair, especially after the crowds leave, becoming peaceful and quiet as the sun sets, making it a lovely place to end a visit to the nearby ballet venue.
