About Hei La Moon

Hei La Moon is a popular dim sum restaurant in Boston that serves a wide variety of delicious dishes at a reasonable price. The spacious dining area, with an upstairs section, is lively with carts filled with beef, noodle dishes, buns, pork, duck, and fried items pushed around by friendly servers. Guests can enjoy hot tea immediately after being seated. The menu includes options like rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, and duck-filled bao buns. Visitors can have a satisfying meal without spending too much, as the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is vibrant, making it an excellent choice for families and groups.

The restaurant is often busy, providing great value for money and quick service. Customers enjoy the mix of Chinese and non-Chinese diners, with dim sum carts passing by each table and workers conversing across the room. The dim sum dishes are fresh and served hot, with reasonable prices. While some dishes may lack a bit of flavor compared to those in larger cities, many note the excellent variety on the menu, recommending items like curry beef bun, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, and rice noodle rolls. The surroundings remind some of Hong Kong dim sum parlors, and the homemade noodles receive particular praise. The warm welcome and efficient service make this restaurant a favorite, especially for larger groups, even though parking can be a challenge and the area might feel sketchy.

Love the dim sum cart!
Service was so off, they clearly didn’t like their jobs

English is first language sadly for these dim sum cart ladies. Food was not bad, definitely don’t get their beef rice noodle dim sum. Everything else we had was manageable. Interesting to see some dim sum not in traditional baskets
This the spot for authentic cuisine in Chinatown! The food is delicious! The rice noodle beef, dumplings, egg drop soup, wonton soup, and spring rolls are all winners!
