TLDR: New spot on the block and it is absolutely phenomenal. No notes, except that the Cacio e Pepe needs a touch more salt. Don’t sleep on this place.
Longer Version: I booked this place for my birthday dinner, because of its proximity to Loyall Counting Room and a 4.6 on google. The menu looked interesting, but I thought it seemed potentially standard American fare and I could not have been more wrong.

We came in from Portland for the night and took a chance on SJ’s bc it was within reasonable walking distance from our hotel, and we are SO glad we did! The Sunday supper was awesome! What a steal. Loved the Caesar salad (thank you to the chef cheese gods), the chicken parm (so much flavor and I normally do not love red sauce), and the bread (perfectly crisp). My husband and I had a great date here! The service was amazing, everyone was friendly and attentive. The vibe and ambience were perfect. Not to mention, the food was delicious! We loved the squash blossoms and pizza as an appetizer. I also can’t say enough about the bread that was brought to our table to start as well. Finally, meals were incredible! We got the bolognese and the chicken. Will definitely be back!! A great place I think everyone HAS to try!

Sj's Restaurant offers a fantastic and incredible dining experience with wonderful, chill, and elegant ambiance and a beautiful, cool atmosphere. The service is exceptional, outstanding, attentive, and top tier, with friendly and supportive staff. The menu, while notably short, focuses on a core selection of dishes executed with consistent, high quality. Food is delicious, terrific, and satisfying. Standout dishes include the sweet onion tarte tatin, described as perfect and humble, and the butternut squash and celeriac agnolotti pasta, a somewhat exceptional and decent plate. The Wagyu steaks are delicious, the burger is possibly the best in Boston, and the half-chicken is highly recommended. The bolognese and cold buckwheat noodles are also fantastic, while the matzo ball soup is delicious and not too salty. Salads are fresh, light, and flavorful. The bar is stunning and cocktails are very good and strong, with specific praise for the Skyeline, Pompelmo Fizz, Manhattan, and SJ's Espresso Martini. The restaurant is a solid choice for a quality meal, leaving guests with a full belly and a great vibe, making it a highly recommended regular spot for both locals and visitors to Boston.
