As a New Yorker too often you hear NY Style pizza here in Boston. This place is the real deal. Crispy thin crust, a well balanced tomato sauce and just mozzarella cheese (no cheddar) on the Cheese Pizza. I couldn’t stop eating the pizza. I am in heaven a real Ny Pizza close by my home.
Ordered a plain pizza to go - that's our NY pizza snob test: Is a plain pizza good? Does it withstand the rigors of 1/2 hour in a box? Passed both tests. This is a good approximation of NY pizza - decent crust, good balance of cheese & sauce. Only one gripe: too much semolina - made it kind of gritty. Maybe a rookie mistake? But otherwise: those of you looking for a decent NY pizza, Bel Ave is among the better options in Boston. This is our new local.

As soon as I entered I met a very nice woman who is in charge and very personable. There will be a bakery next to the pizzeria soon. The pizza is always very good.The slices are always very large. I like the buffalo chicken pizza. The wings are very good. It's pretty convenient and they serve it pretty fast.
