“Food is always amazing. They have the best popovers that they serve hot and fresh to every table when you come in. The service is always top notch and atmosphere is great for date night or dinner with the family. We have consistently had excellent meals with original options, as well as some regular choices, well executed. Highly recommend.“
“First 2 seconds I entered I was kindly greeted with a choice of where I wanted to sit. The hostess didn't even have to ask, and just assumed we wanted waters! Waitress was very kind and polite. So relaxing - good lighting, quiet and peaceful music with nice views of the street. Just excellent. The food was so good and ready in a timely manner. Will be returning. Thanks so much!“
“The Franklin exceeded our expectations! We were in Cape Ann to visit the Edward Hopper Exhibit at the Cape Ann Museum (exhibit now closed). We Googled nearby restaurants for a quick bite before driving to Cambridge for an Early Music Festival concert. The Franklin came up with very good reviews and it was, yes, right outside our window where we had parked! It was an easy decision to go in. Although the restaurant was booked up, we got a couple of seats at the bar in the main room which shares the same house menu. We were seated next to a kind local couple who helped us with menu choices. The food was very good. We ordered the two pastas from the menu to split and a side of cooked spinach (no garlic because of the concert!). The regular-menu Ravioli was good; the edges were thicker and more aldente than I liked (my husband liked it). The Daily Pasta was close to perfect. Fettuccine with Chicken, Mushroom and Alfredo Sauce. The Spinach was as ordered and it was a huge amount. We each ordered a glass of wine.We will definitely return if ever again in Gloucester, MA. We might even plan to return...Dietary restrictions: The Hostess mentioned that The Franklin has many Gluten Free items on the menu. She was a regular customer because of it and decided, "Why not work here?"Kid-friendliness: I would not have brought my young children. As grown young men, they would love The Franklin.“
“The owners of this restaurant are 2 generations of a family from Brazil who spent years working in fine dining in Boston and Gloucester, learning every kind of world cuisine, from Asia to Europe to the US and their native South America before opening their own restaurant right before COVId hit. The father, who had not even boiled water when they left Brazil 25 years ago, now has a repertoire of 600 soups alone! Anyway, they made it through the pandemic thank God, and in addition to the spectacular food at a very fair price, the ambience is warm and inviting. This is the kind of place you can take your family and friends and linger over good food and wine. You will all want to taste each other's food. I don't even know what to recommend first because it's all so good but ok, the lobster bisque is the best I have ever tasted and the flan with orange marmelade drizzled on top is an ingenuous Brazilian/Latino/American fusion! I highly recommend Olivers Harbor to any and everyone who loves delicious food made and served with joy and love.“
“The Rhumb Line is delightful, homey, and non-pretentious. My partner and friend went in for some g+ts in a post beach sun daze and enjoyed the cool dim bar, warm staff, and fun live acoustic set. This is a neighborhood gem. Long Live the Rhumb Line! Oh and the $10 were an absolute score. #twinning“
“We stopped at Cape Ann Coffees for lunch one day while visiting the area. The menu above the counter offered a great many choices, and the sandwiches that we ordered were delicious. We appreciated the helpfulness of the staff and the short wait-time for our order to be prepared. We went back again for lunch the following day.“
“What an awesome gem I happened to be staying right down the street from. I went to Boston to visit family and to get out of Texas for a bit to enjoy some vacation time. It was a last-minute trip and found this little town an hour away from Boston. This place was walking distance right down main street from my airbnb. This place felt pretty welcoming and had a great list of different items on their menu. I was disappointed to find they didn't have their lobster roll anymore, but ended up going with their BLT and fries accompanied with a nice cold beer. Great first night getting settled in. Highly recommended. Great staff and very friendly.“
“I have only been there a few times but it is one of my favorite places in Gloucester! The sandwiches and pastries are great, a big variety of unique foods that are worth the money. Also very nice inside, seems like a great place to relax and enjoy some amazing food.“
“I might just be a simple man with a simple family. But my family and I think this place is a destination restaurant. We've had fish & chips all over - including New York City, Epcot, and Boston. But this unassuming restaurant astounded us with their fish and chips. Our server tells us that they get their fish fresh every morning, so that might have something to do with it. We will be coming back here for sure.“
“My husband and I were driving through the area and stopped in for breakfast. This restaurant was excellent. The staff and local patrons were so friendly. The food was amazing. If they sold T-shirts, I’d buy one! We give it a 12 out of 10. Highly recommend.“
