Burger was excellent, but the caveat was the cole slaw, NOT your store bought or KFC, this was truly a chef Michelin rated green/purple slaw with an incredible dressing. “Birdies Hot Chicken is a locally owned spot that has quietly built one of the stronger reputations for fried chicken in the Boston area, and the tenders are where that reputation is easiest to understand.

The chicken comes out juicy and well crusted, with a batter that stays crispy without being thick or greasy, and the seasoning underneath does more work than most hot chicken spots bother with. The heat is the headline but the flavor is what keeps you coming back, and the two are balanced well enough that even at higher spice levels the chicken still tastes like something rather than just burning.

The spice levels are worth taking seriously. The extra hot is genuinely challenging and rewarding in equal measure if you have the tolerance for it, but the mid-range levels give you enough of the flavor profile to understand what the kitchen is doing without requiring a recovery period afterward.

Is do a phone? Yes, but you only have to pay online. You don't have to pay on the store. It's not DoorDash. “I have been going here on occasion for years and realized I never left a review. Bread, pate, and everything is always fresh. The food and service quality have remained consistent over the year. Whenever I want banh mi and I am in the North Quincy / Wollaston area, this has always been my go to spot. It's also an easy, transit accessible spot, just a few minutes walk from North Quincy Red Line station and the nearby bus stop for the 210 Bus.“

“I support and have been to clover many times, especially in my neighborhood Kendall sq, now finally getting around to a review. This place is great for lunch and a quick dinner option. Can order ahead for pick up. On this visit, I ordered one of the newer items- Verde bowl with spicy tender pork. I've never had fake pork before and I quite I liked it. The bowl itself was obviously well thought out and balanced, very flavorful with a good mix of textures and crunch. I might hesitate to order again tho as it has fried plantains/tostones and fried jalapenos which I could get without, but then it seems to become an even smaller portion than it was. I does feels it a bit expensive for what it is, but most things in this area are. Moreover, they do care about their where they get their ingredients, so I don't mind paying for that. The sides are great including the hummus, fries soups, beverages etc. I've had several other sandwiches including the meatball sub and falafel. Overall my only issue is they use more oil in their items (eg fried falafel or oily meatballs) than my tummy is used to. Tasty though nonetheless, and would be fine for those with less sensitive stomachs. I will continue to support this trailblazing vegetarian/ vegan establishment who sources locally, and hope to see more thoughtful places like it in the immediate future. Kudos to the food lab !“
