“Our second stop on our Saturday Taco crawl took us to Maiz, the Wayland Square location.The shop was decked out for the Halloween season. Inside the place reminds you of a Mexican cantina. Brightly colored flags adorning the ceiling contrasted the sand colored wall.

Our server was very nice, letting us know what our options were for the fight. I chose to upgrade mine to pastor tacos as they are my favorite type. My friends got a Birria taco, a shrimp taco and the carnitas taco.

It didn't take long before our food arrived. Fresh and hot, we quickly dived in. The pastor was flavorful, a slight char taste that made the whole thing sing a symphony for my taste buds. The shrimp taco was particularly good as well. The shrimp was succulent and the addition of the pineapple took it to the next level. The Birria meat was tender and juicy. The carnitas was a solid choice as well. Their homemade hot sauce, mild or spicy, on the side. All washed down with ice cold Mexican coke.

“Another day, another chance for more tacos with the RI Food Fight's TacoMania. This time we started with Diego's. As it was a Saturday, no tables were available from reservations but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The space is open, dark. A blend of Mexican homage and industrial brick. An open kitchen gives you the chance to watch your meal be prepared in full view. Our bartender, Greer was super friendly and balanced attentiveness. She is detail oriented and was very accommodating. She quickly took care of our drinks and got our food order in ASAP. They offered a limited menu for TacoMania and I chose the carne option. It came out in a crunchy blue corn tortilla. After a squeeze of lime, I dug in. The crunch was everything you wanted it to be and more. The beef with queso fundido made this a slight messy but overall delicious taco. We got the cornbread souffle to share and it was outstanding. The souffle itself was savory and very corn forward, as opposed to the sweeter cornbread you see in the south. They add a touch of something sweet to balance it out. My friend had the shrimp chimichirri tacos and they said they were a 10/10. So glad to find another tasty spot in the TacoMania trail!“

“I ordered some dishes for an upcoming and shower and while there decided to get a meal to go to try it for the first time. I got the fried chicken it came with rice, beans and a macaroni salad. Everything was absolutely delicious and was a very generous serving. The staff couldn't be any nicer or more accommodating. I have no doubt the food I ordered for the shower will be equally amazing. I'll definitely come back and be a little more adventurous in choosing a meal but good fried chicken just sounded so appealing and most restaurants only offer fried boneless.“

okay let me just start by saying the place ate (literally n figuratively). From the second i walked in the vibes were immaculate. The place smelled like happiness, the lights were giving cozy and classy, and the music? chefs kiss.
But the real star of the show? ashley!! when i tell you they went ABOVE and BEYOND like ..someone give them a raise or something they deserve recognition for their outstanding service. They were so patient friendly and actually seemed to care about my experience
(which is so rare these days) I couldn’t even decide what to order because everything seemed so good, and they helped me pick the perfect meal which was basically heaven on a plate.
Every bite had me questioning my life choices like? why haven’t i came here sooner? even the drinks were perfection. Ashley checked in at the perfect times not too much bit too little like they were perfect like as if they were trained by Gordan Ramsay himself.
Long story short: the food? amazing
the service?elite.the vibes? 100/10.

“Went to Taqueria Lupita for the first time yesterday. We ordered tacos to-go (Al Pastor & Suedero). The tacos were delicious. Perfect really. Our hosts were warm and friendly and apologized for not being able to serve us at a table inside due the pandemic. I honestly can’t wait for life to return to normal so I can return to this gem of a restaurant for the whole experience (including Sangria). “I order on doordash often: they always read and apply my modifications and it's SO GOOD as a result..many restaurants that are otherwise good ignore requests like 'no cilatro' or 'no ketchup', but Samayoa always does me right. Great birria, great fries, great quesadillas, great burritos, great in general. Central falls Mexican is always good, and samayoa is the great Mexican that also cares about your requested modifications. Thank God. Love em.“

“Decent Mexican food, not the best I’ve ever had. Exterior is bordering scary but interior is okay, but little weird. Service was a little slow although our food did come out quickly. Tacos were dry but the server never came back so I could ask for some house salsa or hot sauce so I just suffered. And whole beans instead of refried for my particular dish wasn’t my favorite. Would probably be back as there aren’t a lot of choices in this area, but would get something else and definitely ask for refried beans.“

My colleagues from Providence have been telling me to try Baja’s for months. According to them, it’s basically an upgraded Chipotle with a much bigger menu. Drove down for a late-night meal, and since this location by Brown is the only one open past midnight, it was still pretty busy even on a Sunday.

The first thing that caught my eye was the chimichangas. I haven’t had one since my college days, so I had to get it. Not as fat or indulgent as the one I used to get in NC, but the protein options here were much better. They go lighter on the rice and beans by default, so it didn’t hit the same level of comfort-food fullness.

Also grabbed a steak burrito bowl, and that was exactly what my colleagues meant. Fresh toppings, good sauces, and most importantly, steak that’s freshly grilled. Not the dry pre-made stuff you get at most chains.

“Overall food is very tasty, I love the chicken tacos . They do pack the tortillas with a good amount of meat however they did make their tortillas smaller compared to 4 years ago. One incident of “ never receiving my order” and no I did not call any other location. Outside of that service and atmosphere is okay not over the top just efficient which is normal . “The food is always fresh, the location is very clean, well decorated and cared for. The staff does a great job preparing your dishes. It's quick and easy unless it gets really busy. They keep things moving quickly if you know what you want. I have not had a bad meal or negative experience at Baja's. I guess this is why they are successful.
