Experience East Providence's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“Stopped here with our kids after a sports event. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything we had was delicious and made quickly. Prices seemed on par with similar types of restaurants. $10-$15 per meal.First time having Birria tacos and they were awesome. My kids got a quesadilla and a burrito bowl and both enjoyed their meals as well.“
“We LOVE this Baja location! We are half way between the Highland Ave Baja and another and we always chose this one when we can! Jesus and his crew make the place feel so friendly and cheerful. It’s always super clean and the food looks fresh always. The people working here really make this place feel special. My husband goes here so often now they know his face! Such a nice feeling to walk in to a restaurant and be greeted with a smile and fist bump...Really can't say enough good things about this location. A+++ great job guys!“
“quite honestly i wasn't expecting much. We came during a snowstorm and it was the closest mexican place to our hotel. I didn't see carnitas on the menu so i asked and the waitress was able to put together a dinner for us. Margaritas and food were all pretty good, but lacking seasoning. A bit more salt would have pushed this review to a 5. Service was great and so was dessert.“
“I was born and raised in LA, and have struggled to find Mexican food that reminds me of home. Tuxpan is a slice of home, and is the best Mexican food I've had in Rhode Island. I am a Mexican food snob, so trust me!! The staff and owners are down to earth. They make their own tortillas, and it really adds to the homey feel of the place. I hope the intimate experience of the CF location is maintained even as they inevitably (and so well-deservedly) grow and thrive!“
“The food was wonderful, tasty. It came out quick and hot. The spanish rice was fluffy and spicy. Thr service was friendly and made you feel comfortable. Absolutely love the atmosphere. The wall mural is beautifully done and each time you look at it you find something new. Definitely get a tamarin margarita.“
“Accommodated a reservation for a group of 15. When only 12 made it they were fine as well. Delicious, authentic Mexican food with great flavors. The drinks were also fantastic. I personally loved their spicy margarita. Their chips come out nice and warm and we couldn’t get enough of their table guacamole. Great service. Affordable. Convenient parking“
“From the RGV in Texas, probably the best Mexican food in the Northeast I've had so far. Delicious food, the people are kind and friendly, it's a little loud but if you don't mind that, it's a great place for delicious food.“
“There's is no place better than here! I have a friend who shares all the places to get delicious food at and she suggested here. She says she drives half an hour to go here. They have so many things I want to order on the menu. Everything was delicious. The fajita plate was huge! I hope they keep everything the same because I will continue to go when I am in the area.“
“A really small restaurant but humble and authentic IMO. Got combo 5 with chorizo and French toast after being recommend it by Victoria who was great to talk to for a bit and was attentive. Food was big in proportion and tasted great. French toast was alright LOL. Definitely recommend and want to try their banana smoothie since they were out of it for next time..“
“I used to have to their No Kingstown location in order to get authentic Mexican food. So excited that they opened up another location near Oakland Beach. Same great food. Stop on by, you won’t be disappointed. They are hard workers! Aim to please!Vegetarian options: My daughter ? is vegetarian so I can bring her here“
“I’ve been there multiple times with my partner and the food has always been great. The service has been friendly and I love the feel and look of the establishment. Be wary because it does get packed during the weekend. But overall really good breakfast spot.“
“I discovered this food truck during RI Food Fights: Taco Mania. We drove by it by accident the first time and had to park up the street, but there is some parking right behind the truck. The man who owns it, Danny, was super friendly and the customer service is top tier. The food is also delicious so all around I would say you need to add this to your list of places to check out. They have only been open for a few months and I just saw that new items are being added to the menu. I can't wait to see what they grow into as they stick around for a while.“
“What a great place ! Small and family owned , I Believe we met the whole family in the last few times we have went. It's a very welcoming place , I would for sure bring a family there or a date for cocktails. The drinks are delicious and they do a great job at keeping them full. My fiancé usually orders a quesadilla and they are huge ! I get the chimichangas and they are stuffed with meat. Loaded. And the queso on it is fabulous. I Believe they add some kind of peppers to it. So nice ! It's a great spot with fresh , great quality food , and helpful staff. I highly recommend.“
“Be careful of the margaritas—they are large and potent. Also tasty as they use real lime. One night there was a mariachi band. Really talented singer. Food is either good or very good depending on what you order. Many Latinx people eat here or work here. A good sign.“
“"YES THIS IS A FOOD TRUCK"I am sure glad my family and I stopped here to grab a bite to eat.And let me tell you It didn't disappoint. I've lived in Pawtucket for 47 years and always had to travel to try to find a good bite and here they are in my own backyard serving great authentic Mexican food. Everything was well prepared, we had the chicken tacos, steak tacos chicken quesadillas, and enchiladas and a burrito " BIG ORDER" and still everything came out steamy & hot!! The place was pretty busy too. Thank you for choosing Pawtucket to Park your truck! I appreciate it!“
“Absolutely love this Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is very welcoming, celebrating the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead through aesthetics. The servers are incredible nice and attentive. We have been a few times now the last couple months this is our new favorite spot. Thursday they have Happy Hour until 7pm (something Ma doesn't do) and I can't say enough about the delicious margaritas and their special Birria loaded fries has been my absolute favorite! Our first time here we were originally going to the place next door, but my daughter was in the mood for tacos.. zero disappointment! We keep going back again and again! This is a must try spot!“
“The food here is good. They serve chips and salsa which i LOVED. I order the carne asada tacos which were very very dry. I won’t get those again. My husband ordered the San Fransisco quesadilla which was AMAZING! Also their refried beans are delicious. The service was great. But the place was very “
“All I have to say is Chipotle, where? I had a chicken burrito and it was sooooo flavorful. Every bite had chicken. The rice was hot and delicious. The server accommodating and friendly. Washed everything down with a very cold beer. Delightful spot.Vegetarian options: Husband got a vegetarian burrito and he was impressed.“
“If you like Mexican food you have to come here. You'll thank yourself later. The Cochinita Pibil is like pork flavored soft butter. Neeza is family owned and everyone here is very friendly and welcoming so much so you won't want to leave. The decor is cozy, funky, retro-modern with the perfect tempo of Mexican music. Very relaxing. Wallet friendlyTequila flights...need I say more? We are working our way through the menu and loving it.“
“Been coming here for years. I know the owner personally. He’s such a hard worker and a dedicated person. He really takes pride in his food and the food is delicious. There’s no question as to who we pick when We are looking for dinner or a restaurant To cater our party. I highly recommend any other salads, fried chicken, tacos, steak, tacos, and their new Korean pork taco“
“Clean clean clean. Everything was delicious. Order the ground beef taco that had a wonderful Smokey flavor. The burrito was yummy. Refried beans were served in a tostada bowl that broke apart to eat the beans with. Spicy Margarita was such a delicious treat. Good pour and the right amount of spice. Highly recommendParking: Parking around back and along street“
“Hands down the best Mexican in New England. The tacos were perfect and stuffed full of meat and cheese and onions. The chimichangas are huge and super tasty. Nachos need more cheese and more even distribution but the flavors were so so good. Thanks guys!!“
“Excellent catering capability ! The online ordering process was very easy & accurate. I got a confirmation call from a manager in the office. I stopped by the location on Metacom to verify the tray sizes and packaging. The staff was super friendly. On my party date I revisited the Metacom site. Everything was ready and pipng hot, right on time. The staff loaded the items in the car for me. No leaks, no spills on the drive home -- perfect packaging. The taste, well it Baja's ... great spice, great quality, all sorts of extra toppings. The catering was a hit ! Everyone enjoyed it - thanks Baja's.“
“My daughter gave me a chicken burrito Friday night by Saturday I wanted more so she brought me back there to get another chicken burrito and a cow's tongue burrito and they were marvelous! If you want the nachos my daughter also said that they were so good. The woman at the window was nice she chit-chatted and she told me how to say certain words in Spanish after I asked. The only thing I did not care for was the parking and they can't help that But they were literally four or five parking spaces there“
“This place is awesome! Went here the first time a couple weeks ago on date night. So good. The waitstaff is so sweet and the restaurant is so lovely inside—so colorful and full of life!We had enchiladas, tacos, and burritos. I had a couple yummy cocktails—great!“
“Probably the best Mexican food in Providence and the best tacos I've ever had. Everything is so delicious and affordable too. Service is always so quick, but not rushed.Dietary restrictions: Really good for gluten freeParking: Can be tough to find a close spot sometimes, but there's usually something available“
“The atmosphere for dine in is full of plants and great music! The staff was friendly and good at their jobs. The food, of course, was the best part. I got the azada tacos and the meat was so tender and flavored well! I also enjoyed a side of French fries and Eloté (street corn on the cob). I highly recommend this place for your taco or eloté fix!“
“Really liked the Birria Tacos! The food was ready nice and fast which was great. The rest of our food was okay. I’ll maybe have to ask for stuff to be spicy or add extra cheese or extra seasoning next time I come.Glass bottles of Mexican Coca Cola (but they were $4.50 each)“
“Nice little place to sit down and enjoy a meal or order out from. Service is quick and friendly, and the food is always really good. Fresh ingredients for you to choose from to build your own burrito, tacos, etc.Kid-friendliness: Options for sodas and french fries, as well as dessert they'll love.“
“The food in this MARAVILLOSIRFULL place is SUPER GOOD, DELICIOUS, TASTY and YUMMY!!!??❤️??????%The price is way more reasonable than any other place around them and Providence. "WARRANTY" The portion is fair enough ?! You can go by yourself or bring someone to impressed with a good plate of food ???!I'm sure they can make kids meals. A lot of Mexican products and candy.(my best choice) ?? Just go and find out your self, u won't regret. ???❤️???Parking: Is 3 parking spot in front of the store but very uncomfortable to pull out cause traffic. Sometimes you can park close to the store with no problem. Besides that everything else is OK!!!!“
“Best Mexican in RI. If you're craving traditional Mexican flavors look no further. Originally went to the one on Thayer St for years. Now the Johnston location is closest for me. The staff is all super friendly, they remember regulars, like myself. Clean, warm and inviting atmosphere. Decently priced. You get a lot of food for your money.“
“We kept driving by El Paso and my kids for some reason always wanted to come here. Am I glad we finally did! Place is a hidden gem in central falls. Walking in they had only Spanish shows on the TVs and were playing Spanish music. I knew this place was the real deal. We ordered taquitos as an app which was played perfectly with white sauce and topped with shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Delicious. I ordered an quesa taco which was a taco that was overflowing with cheese and chicken. I also ordered their popular dish the birria which is a taco with shredded beef.Anything that came in a shell was grilled which made it nice and crispy. That is what made El Paso stand out from other restaurants. Not to mention, everything was delicious. We also ended up ordering a Nutella crepe with bananas and strawberries which we ate in seconds. We will be back again and again.“
“I really enjoy this Talullahs location. We went on a nice sunny day and all of the doors were open which was very inviting. I think the atmosphere is big and bright with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was a little slow, but we ordered everything we were looking for with no issues. I ordered the vegetarian quesadilla which had 3 different choices for filling. I decided on the black bean option and it was SUPER flavorful and filling. I was a little hesitant that it was a bit pricey for the portion size but it was worth it. I ordered a side of the chipotle potatoes and a guava agua fresca and both were delicious. I find the food here to be quite tangy/acidic which is perfect for someone like me who loves those flavors. The pickled radishes are absolutely to die for and my favorite part of the whole dish!“
“Great food and friendly service. It’s a little hard to tell it’s a restaurant when you’re outside, but hopefully they’ll get a sign up soon. Great breakfast options and less crowded than the other spots in the area. 5 stars, highly recommended.“

“Poco is excellent... really great, with its own personality..The other 5-star reviews have all told the truth... but they've missed one UNIQUE Poco Loco detail! The posted menu INCLUDES TAX!!!. See my pictures. So, you save 8% that we all normally expect to pay to RI - it's like getting an 8% discount... because Poco is paying it for us!Thank you Poco Loco. Extraordinary!.P.S. I usually order their "Nude Burrito" - which is any of their custom burritos stripped-down without the wrap and served in a bowl.“
“My wife and I had a wonderful time thanks to our bartender, Nathaly. We had the mezcal negroni and it was a complex and unique take on the classic Negroni. Very cool vibe and great music.Review part II: My wife and I came back the following night for margarita Monday. Rosy, the bartender, was awesome and super nice. She made great cocktails. Maria, the general manager, made us feel like we were at home. Great people and vibes!“
“The food is delicious here! But beware, they have changed ownership and pricing has gone up a bit. I was taken aback by the tab when i picked up... also the signage is not appropriate on the street, but they are working on that I think... They are also not called Papi's Tacos anymore, its La Familia Tacos.“
“Came here today for lunch. I was craving some authentic tacos and decided to give this a shot. I'm glad I did. Not only are they friendly but they also are very affordable and delicious. I ordered the Al pastor, the Barbacoa, and the carnitas. The carnitas were my favorite but the tacos were filled with meat and plenty of fresh cilantro and onion and lime. We ordered 6 tacos and they came out to $16.00. The truck is a bit unassuming and it's located in a parking lot across from the supermarket but great food. I'll definitely be back. There was a bit of a language barrier but lucky for me I'm well versed in ordering my food in Spanish lol. Definitely give them a try. They are cash only.“
“Just traveling through Providence, looking for a place a quick bite to eat. I came across Diego’s and it did not disappoint. The Poke bowl was great and so was the service. It was not overly crowded (Sunday night). The only negative may be the music was a bit loud, but I didn’t mind it. It seemed to match the theme of the restaurant.“
“FYI, not a fancy restaurant but a very friendly place, Im not gonna lie when it comes to tacos i am very picky but these small restaurant at a corner street is my happy place, every weekend my family and i go there to enjoy a delicious tacos.!Parking: Front of the restaurant or across, street parkingWheelchair accessibility: At a corner with accessibility for wheelchair“
“Excelente servicio!!!! EXTRAORDINARY!!! The food was AMAZING! We ordered carne asada, grilled chicken quesadilla, tacos de chorizo, tacos de lengua, enchiladas de mole, churros, and fried ice cream and everything was DELICIOSO!!!! La verdad que nos encantó! The waiter was very friendly and it's actually a very beautiful restaurant with authentic Mexican food. I highly recommend it!“
“I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! It's become a weekly tradition for my boyfriend and me to indulge in their dinner combo grande, which never disappoints. The chips and salsa are always fresh and delicious, and the decor of the restaurant perfectly matches the vibrant Mexican cuisine that they serve. It's no wonder this place has easily become one of my top 5 favorite spots to eat at. What's more, they even include salsa and chips with take-out orders, unlike most places. Even if you're short on time like me, I highly suggest giving this place a try - either dine-in or take-out - you won't regret it!“
“The BEST Mexican food you’ll find in PVD. Our waitress tonight was amazing. My daughters adored her and the member of staff who was training alongside her. Thank you for an a great evening. Will 100% be back. ❤️Kid-friendliness: My daughters Clover and Cece were treated so well by the staff. It’s so hard to find a family friendly restaurant but they went above and beyond.“
“Awesome food truck!Tacos are the best, most authentic I’ve had in New England. Remind me of the tacos I had growing up in SoCal and trips down to Mexico.Service is fast and friendly.Favorites are the Tacos de maiz Azada/PastorWide variety of other options that are good, but the tacos are the star if the show. All forms of payment excepted, but I always pay in cash.“
“It was so nice going to a restaurant and being able to order anything off the menu. We got the memela, burrito, Chile relleno, and churros and chocolate with dulce de leche. I would recommend all of them, it was a lot of food though, good for leftovers.“
“Great food I got the enchiladas borrachas everything is so fresh you can even have guacamole made tableside! The frontera margarita was delicious and the kids plate comes with good portions!Parking: Lots of parkingKid-friendliness: Nice kids menu“
“The food was very good & glad the person I was w/ chose to go here for lunch. I ordered a steak bomb plate w/ lettuce, tomatoes, American cheese & bacon (gotta love they offered bacon!) along w/ an order of cajun fries and a fountain drink Dr Pepper. I will definitely go there again!“
“My partner and I were craving tacos so we looked in the area and decided on trying this place and we were so glad we did. I got two Al Pastor tacos and a Horchata. The filling was juicy and flavorful while the tortilla was moist and the perfect texture. It's a small place, and even though we came around 2:30pm, it was still pretty busy with people coming in to eat. The service was friendly and very speedy. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd love to come have tacos here again.“
“We've been coming here for a few years now. I can't believe I've never written a review! Every time we come to El Mariachi, the food and service are phenomenal. Local go to Mexican food spot for us! Everything is fresh and has a multi layered flavor profile. Come in and enjoy.“
