“I tried the Venus Cafe for the first time today for takeout. I ordered a green pepper onion and mushroom pizza. I got there early and got it as soon as he popped it into the box, so there was no time for it to steam in the box. I usually have my dog with me, so that's why I get take-out a lot. A little bit of flop at the beginning due to it being piping hot and loaded with toppings. Tasted great, and the price was good. This place is one of the goats of this style of pizza, ssbp. The only complaint is that they use sliced toppings, not chopped. And that's just a personal preference due to years of thinking I took a clean bite of pizza, and then a chunk of blistering topping comes with it and tags me on the chin. Lol. I went to the takeout side and dealt directly with the cook, and he was very nice. I have no clue about the bar area, but friendly kitchen staff speaks volumes for a place. “Went for the first time last night. Really reminded me of the Pubs I frequented while in Ireland. (Served a proper pour of Guinness, not usual for most bars in the area. ). Service was friendly and fast. Food is good, well cooked, and very reasonably priced. We were there on a Wednesday for Open Mic Night and very much enjoyed the music. Live music of one kind or another every evening but Monday & Tuesday. Good crowd made it feel like the perfect neighborhood hangout. We'll be back soon!“

“I have heard people at my workplace talk about how this place is political and they don't feel welcome with the Blue Lives Matter flag, but I have never seen any of the staff be nasty here and for me I don't judge by what others say I judge it by my own experience with the food, service, and the atmosphere. “This place was a recommendation from a friend. I must have driven past it a number of times and didn't realize there was this neighborhood gem in the middle of a residential area. Shame on me, this place has been a local staple for a long time and run by generations of the same family for decades. I ordered a "Tuscan" pizza (artichokes and roasted garlic) and added Finocchiona and Olives custom to it which raised some eye brows with the boss. He considered it a good choice and appreciated the order while stating that not many order it that way because they don't know what Finocchiona was :-) I also had the sauteed calamari, great, but didn't leave a lot of room for the entree, be mindful. I went back a couple of weeks later and we shared the same calamari entree (lesson learned). We also shared a clam pizza, a local favorite. Pizzas come in one size only, but roughly what most places would serve as a large. The specialty pizzas are creative and thoughtful. The toppings and ingredients are fresh and presented nicely on the pies. Speaking of toppings, they have a good selection of herbed cheeses along with one of my personal favorites, Gorgonzola. Not many places offer that one, so bonus points for Crust right there. I haven't had the goat cheese yet, but the herb whipped ricotta is outstanding.
