It's one of the best poppy seed bagels I've had in a long time, and the homemade chive cream cheese pairs so perfectly with the smoked salmon. It made my day eating this bagel after work. I love lox. It's one of the sweetest gifts a guest has ever given me. 💕 When I travel the coast looking at lighthouses this winter, this bagel shop will definitely be on my places to stop. “Hot fresh bagels with lots of seeds or toppings on them. It’s purely takeout so even if you only want one bagel get three with a schmear and have a party. They don’t have a place to sit, but there are plenty of spots nearby. Go across the street to the Commonwealth pier and enjoy a bagel with a view.“

“Bagels are absolutely awesome here! It came fresh out of the oven, the plain one in particular I ordered the sesame, every thing bagel and the plain one. Each one of them have their own individual flavor to explore, and I really enjoyed all of them. Me and my mom had some issues figuring out how to order but one of the servers were extremely polite and offered to explain to us. They gave us also a big tub of cream cheese, which is quite surprising for me personally as a foreigner. The atmosphere was also very nice as it seems like the decoration made the whole shop very suitable to its name as it pops up! Overall, I really recommend to try this place if you want a quick bite touring or visiting or studying around Harvard.“

“Cafe Fresh is such a great spot for a fresh and delicious breakfast! They have a large selection of fresh bagels that you can customize however you like, whether you want a simple spread or a full sandwich. They also have muffins, cookies, chips, bottled drinks, and a great selection of hot or iced coffee with different flavors.

I ordered an onion bagel with lox cream cheese, and it was absolutely delicious and so fresh! The bagel had the perfect crunch on the outside while still being soft and chewy on the inside, and there was just the right amount of cream cheese.

Whether you want to sit down and enjoy your breakfast or grab something quick to take on the go, Cafe Fresh is a great choice. I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!“

“I have been going to Bagels Best since I was a kid with my grandfather every morning after I slept over. They have had the best bagels by a long shot and I have traveled across the state to get their bagels, breakfast bagel, and smoked salmon which is spectacular! When my immigrant parents said “ Study Hard” they meant so I can live in a neighborhood that serves sandwiches like those found at Michael’s Deli. “Got a variety of tarts (classic egg, strawberry custard egg, jasmine matcha tart) and a strawberry matcha latte on a Monday afternoon after lunch nearby. There was a promo where if you buy 2 tarts you get 1 free. My favs were the strawberry matcha latte and jasmine matcha tart.

The strawberry jam/syrup is the best part of the drink, perfectly tart and just sweet enough. It even has chunks of strawberry in there that were really good. Make sure to grab the thicker straw if you get this drink so you can mash the chunks of berries down more.

Jasmine matcha tart had mochi and adzuki paste in it. Mochi was more like the milk mochi texture that you can get in some shops, so gooey-er and I thought it went well with the other textures. There was a decent amount of bean paste in there, which I really liked but for people who don't like beans at all, maybe skip because you could feel a bit of that texture. Tastewise, I noticed more jasmine matcha and cream than the adzuki. I hope this is a staple because I would plan to get this every time I visit in the future.“

“Bruegger's offers excellent bagels and sandwiches but also has exceptional service. The staff is friendly and efficient. Moses recently helped me with an order of bagels that I needed to be cut in half and needed to pick up early. in the morning, so I ordered ahead. Moses had them ready, and made the whole transaction easy. It is a pleasure to do business here thanks to Moses.“

“Old fashioned bakery specializing in jewish goods. Clientele ranges from orthodox jews, to locals and destination diners like myself.

My favorite aspect is that they focus on the traditional greats (e.g., Bagels, Challah, etc.) and do them very well.

Their bagels are (IMHO) the very best in the greater Boston area. There are a few “modern” additions, but nothing like the crazy flavors being produced elsewhere. The Challah is light, flavorful with a perfect texture. The in-house cream cheese is light, appropriately tangy and simply delicious.

Highly recommended for a visit.“

“A hidden neighborhood gem we discovered while visiting Boston this past weekend. Our hotel was situated in a bit of a no-man’s land that made it difficult to do our usual walking to find good coffee in the AM but I’m glad we persisted. I found the Black Sheep Market after a refusal for settling for DD coffee. This spot was a brisk 10 min walk from our hotel- we got there shortly after doors opened on Sunday and while coffee drew us in we quickly discovered their incredibly solid selection of store made donuts and baked goods. I am going to be dreaming about the Boston Creme donut I left with for some time. Nothing better on the planet when it comes to donuts than that one right there. My husband ordered a cinnamon and sugar donut which he exclaimed melted in his mouth, and for our son who had been studying French- a chocolate croissant- delectable! The coffee - the reason we went at all- was hot, fresh, and delicious. Also warmed our hands on the cold walk back to the hotel for a bonus! The shop itself offered a wide variety of other goods - which we didn’t need that particular morning, but I’d love to have just around the corner if I lived in this Cambridge area neighborhood.

“I’m super happy I found a place in Boston that has Taylor Ham. My sandwich was very good! I came in around 1pm on a Friday and there were many open seats inside, which was nice. It only took them a couple of minutes to make my sandwich. Fast service and great menu!“

The two-story space with outdoor seating gives it more breathing room than most spots in the area, and the upstairs seating is a good option when the weather is not cooperating and you want somewhere to sit and eat without rushing.

The bagels are the foundation and they hold up well as a vehicle for everything built on top of them, with the everything bagel being the standout in the lineup. “Really tasty bagels and croissants. I especially like the caprese croissant sandwich. I've been on multiple occasions, and some staff are friendly, others less so. In the afternoon when it's slow, one employee had an AirPod in. There are a few high-chair seats but definitely more of a grab-and-go type of place.“

“If you are anywhere near Berklee College of Music and you have not stepped into Pavement Coffeehouse on Boylston Street you are missing out on one of the most magical spots in the entire city. This place is more than a coffee shop. It is a daily ritual for students and locals and artists and anyone who wants to feel taken care of from the moment they walk in the door. There is something about this specific Pavement location that feels warm and alive the second you enter. You hear the grinders humming and the staff laughing with customers and you instantly know you are in the right place.

The coffee is consistently incredible. Not sometimes good and sometimes okay. Always incredible. The espresso tastes like someone who actually cares pulled it. The drip coffee is rich and full and never bitter. The lattes are silky and made with the kind of intention that you normally only find in small independent shops. You can tell they take their beans seriously and you can taste that care in every sip. Even on the busiest mornings the drinks come out consistent which says everything about how strong and trained the team is.

Then there are the bagels which deserve their own chapter in a book. Fresh chewy hot and perfect every single time. You can smell them before you even order and you already know you made the right choice. The breakfast sandwiches are legendary among Berklee students who basically live off them. You get this perfect mix of warm bagel buttery egg melty cheese and whatever add ons you choose. It is the type of food that makes your entire morning feel right.

But the thing that really makes this Pavement the top tier Pavement the elite Pavement the Pavement you secretly measure all other Pavement locations against is the manager. The manager at this store is on another level. Every great review that mentions the staff being sweet patient fast and welcoming starts with the leadership at the top. This person clearly knows how to build a team that actually likes coming to work. You can feel that energy in the room. The manager is organized calm positive and knows every regular by face. They create an environment where the staff moves like a well coordinated band. You can see them supporting the baristas checking on orders solving problems before anyone else even notices and doing it all with total kindness. A lot of places have managers who hide in the back. This one is hands on always present and sets the tone for how good the store feels. Berklee kids write whole essays about how good the service is here and that does not happen without someone incredible running the show.

Even when it is packed which happens often because everyone wants to be here it still feels smooth. The line moves fast. Drinks are accurate. The staff stays friendly. You never feel rushed and you never feel ignored. That balance is rare and it is the clearest sign that the manager is the heartbeat of this location.

The atmosphere is perfect for everything. Studying. Journaling. Hanging out with friends. Waking up before a morning class. Taking a break after a long lecture. The mix of music and conversation and the slight chaos of student life makes it feel alive in a really comforting way. There are always Berklee students carrying instruments or running to rehearsals which adds to the whole vibe. It feels like a creative hub where good coffee and good people intersect.

If you want coffee that is always consistent food that always hits service that always feels warm and a team that clearly loves what they do this is the Pavement to go to. It is the crown jewel of the Berklee neighborhood and a place that genuinely brightens your day. I would recommend it to anyone in Boston without hesitation.“
